Deep Thermal Massage Therapy

We offer Deep Thermal Massage Therapy, which is a rejuvenating combination of deep percussive massage, soothing heat therapy and revitalising Ion therapy using a combination of a hand held massage device and a hands on massage treatment.

Deep percussive massage
This power packed tapping goes deep into the muscle tissue to where the aches and fatigue are. The contoured hammer head of the massage device provides comfortable contact with your bodies curves.

Soothing Heat Therapy
The instant warm air is soothing, promotes healing and increases the removal of waste products such as lactic acid from the muscles. The warm air is circulated around the point of contact to encourage blood circulation and magnify the rejuvenating effects of the massage.

Negative Ion Therapy
Think of the seaside, mountains or forests, imagine you are there and how good it feels when breathing in the fresh ionic air.

The massage device charges the air around you with negative ions for holistic recovery, and promotes a sense of wellbeing. You will feel more energised, calmer and experience a heightened sense of mental alertness.

Holistic Pregnancy Treatments

Pregnant Feet
Tired, aching legs and swollen ankles might seem an inevitable part of pregnancy – but they aren’t always caused by the extra weight you're carrying. Pregnancy triggers an increase in the production of progesterone. This hormone relaxes the muscles in the leg veins, causing them to become more elastic - this can lead to swollen ankles and tired, aching legs.

The increase in body weight - and 'waddling' walking action to accommodate the bump - can sometimes cause foot problems, such as the build up of hard skin, corns and calluses. If the extra weight means your feet can't support your body properly, it can also lead to related pain in the knees, hips and lower back.

There's a chance that problems such as varicose veins or other circulatory problems can occur. Once they have, they may not go away once you've given birth.

Wearing compression hosiery can help prevent varicose veins developing, and also alleviate tired aching legs.

Wearing low-heeled shoes and using cushioning products in footwear will help increase comfort. It's also a good idea to check your size when buying new shoes during pregnancy; a normal size 6 might have gone up to a 7 or 8. We stock simple insoles and cushioned shoe inserts and can offer advice on suitable footwear.

Hard skin is best dealt with through a regular foot-care regime. Pumice stones, foot files and exfoliating creams reduce hard skin build up and prompt healthy cell growth below. Regular application of moisturisers improves the skin's elasticity, helping to prevent the inflexibility and dryness that can cause rough, hard skin and calluses to form. We stock a specialist range of exfoliators, moisturisers and nourishing creams, which are specially formulated to care for the unique characteristics of the skin on the feet.

Putting your feet up as often as possible (particularly in the last trimester) will relieve feelings of leg tiredness and help reduce any swelling of your ankles.

Gentle exercise - such as swimming and walking - is also an ideal way to assist blood circulation and muscle tone, whilst a low-salt diet may also help relieve aches, pains and excess swelling.

There is also a slightly increased chance of developing a DVT, before or after your baby is born. Wearing compression hosiery can help reduce this risk. If you’re going on an aeroplane, it’s worth being aware that flights lasting four or more hours carry an increased risk of DVTs developing. Always consult your midwife or GP before flying if you are pregnant or have recently had a baby.

We offer friendly and helpful advice from our Podiatrists to help your feet stay tip top

Pregnancy Massage
Massage in pregnancy is a very gentle type of body work therapy designed specifically for the requirements of a pregnant woman. It is safe prenatally and also effective. By employing specifically developed techniques discomfort related to pregnancy can be helped and eased. Massage during pregnancy can help contribute towards the emotional & physiological well being of both mother & foetus
Pre-natal pregnancy massage aims to reduce the discomfort and pain caused by the constant growth of the baby and resultant changes in weight distribution around the mother's body. This can lead to problems with the neuromuscular system causing muscle aches, joint stiffness and cramps as well as stress and insomnia.

The pregnancy massage therapist aims to stimulate muscle and circulatory function using medium pressure stroking movements. This method reduces swelling (known as oedema) caused by poor circulation and pressure on blood vessels from the heavy uterus. By increasing blood circulation, the oxygen and nutrients present in blood cells also benefit both mother and foetus.

Pressure on the sciatic nerve from the uterus resting on the pelvic floor and lower back causes tension in the muscles resulting in back pain. Pregnancy massage releases this tension and lower back pain is greatly reduced. Hormonal changes benefit from pregnancy massage as the relaxation process relieves any anxiety or depression.

Post-natal massage aims to restore the elasticity of stretched skin and muscles to their pre-pregnancy state while also helping to aid relaxation and increase energy levels.

Laser Therapy

Laser treatment is used for a variety of conditions in our clinic, these include wound healing, sports injuries, pain reduction including back and shoulder pain and Verruca removal.

Laser therapy employs low power or 'soft' laser light to aid the natural healing process of the body safely and effectively. It has been used for over 30 years and is widely available in the medical field for treatment of pain, wound healing and musculoskeletal conditions. Laser therapy achieves improved outcomes in the treatment of plantar fasciitis, tendonitis, after nail surgery, neuropathic and phantom pain, diabetic ulceration, rheumatoid and osteo-arthritis, joints, chronic oedema, warts and verrucae. Low level lasers should not be confused with surgical lasers which are a different classification of laser. Low level laser therapy cannot burn or harm the skin. Its effects are photo-biochemical, not thermal. In addition to their direct healing applications, low level lasers also provide an alternative needle-free acupuncture medium.
