Thank you for considering me as a source of support for you and or your family.
Family and friends are often not the best people to talk to about our concerns because they are too close to us to be able to help. I offer a safe and confidential place for you to talk about sensitive and often painful issues. I will help you to make sense of complex feelings and to move to a better understanding of your life so that you may begin to plan any changes needed for you to feel more in control and balanced. Your safety is important to me and if there is a risk of harm to yourself or someone else I will not be able to keep this to myself and would need to discuss with you the best ways of getting further help for example referring you to the doctor or other specialist service.
I work from home where I can offer a non-threatening, confidential and non-clinical environment. There is plenty of parking outside of the house and no signage to indicate counselling takes place there.
My Theoretical Approach: My approach to counselling is Integrative drawing from humanistic, psychodynamic, systemic and solution focused approaches. I adapt my approach to the needs of the person I am working with.
Training, Qualifications and Experience
- Relate Certificate in Marital and Couple Therapy
- BSc (Hons) Psychology
- Cert Life Coaching
- Youth Access Cert in Counselling Young People
- Barnados Cert Approved Adoptions Counsellor
- Post Grad Cert in Higher Education specialising in Counselling Training
I am a BACP Registered Counsellor, Registered Member (MBACP) and an Approved Adoptions Counsellor.
I have over 10 years experience working as a relationship counsellor and considerable experience of supporting younger clients in Further Education working as a College Counsellor. I am also trained to work with adolescents (age 10+).
I am an Approved Adoptions Counsellor so am qualified to work with clients whose life has been affected by adoption for example birth parents, adopters, those who are adopted and their relatives.
I have written many counselling courses for Leeds Metropolitan University and work as an Associate Lecturer there on the Professional Diploma in Counselling where I facilitate personal awareness groups. I also train students in developing counselling skills for their work. I was involved in setting up a cancer support group in Keighley and am now a member of a Community Partnership Team in Bradford helping families with children aged 0-3 in BD3 area.
Fees
£43.00 a session.
For adoptions counselling government funding may be available if you are attached to a local authority adoptions agency. I would need to speak to Barnados to confirm the funding first.
Appointments
Currently available on Monday and Tuesday 9.30 - 2pm and Monday evenings
