HOMEOPATHY

Homeopathy is one of the most widely used forms of medicine in the world today, this is because people are discovering the benefits of a system of medicine that is safe, effective and treats them as unique individuals.

Over 200 hundred years ago, the German doctor and chemist Samuel Hahnemann developed Homeopathy as an alternative to the harsh and sometimes dangerous treatments of the day. He had a very clear and humane approach to the practice of medicine:

“The highest ideal of cure is rapid, gentle and permanent restoration of health, or removal and annihilation of the disease in its whole extent, in the shortest, most reliable and most harmless way, on easily comprehensible principles.” (Samuel Hahnemann, Organon of Medicine)

In our modern world Homeopathy is still as relevant as an alternative and complimentary tool which may help to relieve the symptoms of acute and chronic illnesses. Modern medicine tends towards the “one size fits all” approach but with Homeopathy each prescription is unique to that individual. Remedies are prescribed on the principle that “like cures like” so for example – chopping onions can cause your nose and eyes to run with copious amounts of water. The onion – Allium Cepa – can be used homeopathically to treat colds and hayfever where the main symptoms include runny eyes and nose.

Your First Consultation

Appointments are for 60 minutes. Your present symptoms are taken in detail along with a full health history and all relevant information regarding home life, occupation, likes and dislikes and how you relax and unwind.

Please do not stop any prescribed medications you may be taking before coming to see me

The first follow-up appointment is usually 2-3 weeks afterwards and then the timing of subsequent appointments is mutually agreed depending on the severity of symptoms and the individuals’ response to the remedies.

Why Homeopathy?

I discovered homeopathy after the birth of my first child. I suddenly became acutely aware of how little I knew about modern medicines, what was in them and what if any, were their side effects. At the same time, as a mum, I still had to deal with teething pains, bumps and bruises, upset tummies and inexplicable fevers that most children go through. I found with Homeopathy that I had a broad and effective tool kit I could use at home with periodic visits to my practitioner. I was no longer concerned with unknown ingredients and learned to observe and take note of symptoms.

I qualified as a Reflexologist in 1992 and worked full time first in London and then in Deal where I moved to in 1994. I also continued to use Homeopathy for family and friends and in 2000 got the opportunity to study at The College of Homeopathy based in Regents Park in London. I qualified in 2004 and have since been working in the Deal/Dover area.

As well as my practice in Deal I am also at The Bridge Doctors Surgery near Patrixbourne and a member of a collective of Homeopaths called The Good Health Initiative whose aim is to introduce homeopathy and wellbeing to as many people as possible.

Over these last few years of prescribing for lots of symptoms of different types of illness and complaints I am still excited by the profound and tangible effect Homeopathy has on peoples’ lives. I have treated many ordinary and some extraordinary symptoms and illnesses including eczema, digestive problems, tonsillitis, quinsy, menstrual and menopausal symptoms, grief, shock and trauma, chickenpox, measles, influenza, impetigo, hayfever, bronchitis and ear infections. Homeopathy can be used by one and all, exclusively or as another tool along with modern medicines and other complimentary therapies. It has changed my life for the better – maybe it can change yours too.

Testimonials

"Gill was recommended to me by a good friend and I’m grateful that my first homeopathic experience was with her. She made me feel comfortable immediately with her manner and expertise and she asked all the right questions to gain a holistic understanding of my health and concerns before deciding on my treatment, balancing me not only physically, psychologically and emotionally as well.

She has been my homeopath for nearly ten years now and she has treated me throughout this time with compassion, skill and intuition."

Edwina Russell, Deal.

"I met Gill in 2005 when I was looking for a new family Homeopath. I was pregnant with my 3rd child and had been using homeopathy since I had my first child in 2001. Gill immediately struck me as a warm, family person that I could build a relationship with.

8 years on and I visit Gill about 4 times a year for general constitutional treatment for us all. I also contact her with general concerns about childhood ailments. Gill has seen us through coughs, colds, diarrhoea, vomiting, chicken pox etc. and has also helped me with anxiety, mild depression and the family with grief.

Gill has seen me through my 3rd and 4th pregnancies and provided healing/recovery prescriptions following an operation.

We rarely visit the GP (in fact I recently found out my GP retired 15 months ago!)

I cannot recommend Gill and homeopathy highly enough.

C Goodall, Sandwich, Kent

"After going to the doctors several times and not been given any help, I decided to try alternative medicine. Gill is great at understanding and talking you through your issues, very easy to talk too. I had 4 appointments overall, took onboard everything Gill said and felt completely different at the end to what I did when I started. Highly recommended."

D.J. - Deal, Kent
