Welcome to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy [CBT]

"Creating New Pathways For A Better Life"

Do you feel alive but not really living?

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy [CBT], is a type of psychotherapy and counselling based on understanding and changing unhelpful thoughts and behaviours that may be holding us back from being the person we really want to be. It also helps us to see that we can influence the way we feel by changing the way we see things [cognitive] and therefore what we do [behaviour], so that we can act in ways that work better for us and improve decision making, health and happiness.

About Us

If you are anxious, worried or depressed at the moment you are not alone. 1 in 6 adults in the UK are currently suffering from stress related or emotional problems.

If you are or suffering from low self esteem, panic attacks, fears or phobias, or, you are struggling with life due to alcohol or substance abuse, OCD or food related issue then CBT could be right for you. This is because it is a type of therapy that creates the right balance between challenge and support providing the best and fastest way to control self destructive or compulsive behaviour.

If you are encountering relationship difficulties getting help early on can greatly improve the chance of saving your relationship. Understanding your partner better and giving yourself a chance to be heard can often make all the difference to how you handle difficult times. Exploring problems, reviewing expectations and making changes can help you find the answers and build a better relationship.

If you are feeling overwhelmed by your circumstances and decision making has become difficult for you CBT can help by breaking worries down into smaller parts and help you to see the best way forward. If you feel confused misunderstood or depressed CBT can help you to come to terms with unresolved issues that may be the cause of behavioural or emotional problems that are undermining your confidence, your motivation or your general outlook.

If you are suffering from an illness, have localised pain, feel generally run down bloated or irritable, a short course of CBT combined with Nutritional therapy and Stress management can be of immense help. This is because our thoughts directly affect our health more than any other aspect of life that we can control. Our emotions have a direct physical effect on the body. Positive thoughts boost the immune system whilst negative thoughts deplete the immune system. Your mind has the capability to override your body thus promoting faster healing.

In my experience, people seek support for all sorts of reasons and every case is different.

Most people go through some period in their life when they need a little help with a particular problem. Often this is following some kind of loss, a crisis, or, unresolved issue which needs to be explored. For others the problem may be a more specific disorder such as OCD. Whatever the problem the solution is always in the here an now. Taking positive action today is always the first step to feeling better.

Almost anyone can benefit from a course of Cognitive therapy as, unlike with anti depressants, it encourages new thinking skills and creates positive and preventative changes which stay with them for life. If you are curious about CBT counselling and how it could help you, just pick up the phone for a free confidential chat and discover the benefits for yourself.
