Experience

Past training has enabled me to develop a wide range of skills within the broad psychology field, including neuropsychology, clinical, occupational, cognitive, sports, forensic and counselling psychology. I have applied this to a wide spectrum of people, including those that have: severe mental health problems, problems arising from mainly biological causation (such as traumatic brain injury and MS), clients with significant levels of challenging behaviour and clients who have problems with everyday coping and adaption to adverse life events.

I have worked with a wide breadth of clients with issues from acute to enduring and from mild to severe with all age groups of varied cultural, intellectual ability and socio-economic backgrounds. This experience has been gained through individual work and with working along side professional multi-disciplinary teams of specialists. My career has been supported by in-depth and innovative psychological research for government and NHS driven projects, with training in areas as far field as EEG brain activity measure and analysis.

I have significant experience in neuropsychological assessments and interventions gained at a leading NHS brain rehabilitation hospital. Working with neurological phenomenon including traumatic brain injury and the degenerative diseases of Dementia (Alzheimer’s, Picks disease and frontotemporal dementia) Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinsons disease and many other associated medically related symptoms and complications. Here I delivered sensitive neuropsychological based assessment and provided the appropriate treatments for rehabilitation.

During my work within the hospital I addressed the behavioural and cognitive aspects of the client’s behaviour. A large part of my role was to provide emotional and therapeutic support to relatives and partners with an emphasis on how their emotional needs and life had changed which quite often goes unnoticed. This work not only necessitated a diverse knowledge of neuropsychology but also incorporated clinical, cognitive and counselling psychological evaluations and interventions.

Ultimately, I have excellent people skills and am able to effectively communicate, empathise and relate to a diverse spectrum of individuals. I am continually seeking to develop my expertise and adapt my skills and eminence accordingly and this is reflected in my passion for psychological knowledge and deliverance.

In addition I have a new and exciting contract with a London media company, thus deepening my relationship and drive to bring psychology to the public. I currently write for the monthly magazine 'Slim at Home' - available at WH Smiths.
