SERVICES

Welcome to Langley Clinic of Acupuncture

I qualified in acupuncture at the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine in Reading.

I am registered with the British Acupuncture Council.

What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a system of healing which has been practised in China, Japan and other Eastern countries for thousands of years. It can be used to treat people who suffer from a wide range of illnesses. It focuses on treating the whole person, to create an overall feeling of well being rather than just the isolated treatment of individual symptoms.

According to traditional Chinese philosophy, our health depends upon the energy which motivates our body’s systems. If the different aspects of the energy within our body become unbalanced or if the energy doesn’t move smoothly through our body, then illness may result. The smooth flow of this energy called Qi can be disturbed by a number of factors including infections, stress, anxiety, poor nutrition, hereditary factors and emotions such as anger, grief or fear.

It is the aim of the acupuncturist to use very fine needles inserted into special points on the body’s surface together with other techniques such as warming and massage to promote the body’s own natural healing power to restore balance, physically and emotionally.

How could Acupuncture help?

Many people come to acupuncture for help with specific symptoms. These include a wide variety of conditions such as:
  • anxiety and depression

  • asthma and breathing difficulties

  • back pain and sciatica

  • circulatory problems and hypertension

  • gall stones

  • headaches and migraines

  • pain relief

  • skin conditions

  • ulcers

  • rheumatism

  • “women’s” problems and infertility
Acupuncture has been shown to be effective for management of pregnancy and for pain relief during labour.

People also come for help with trying to overcome addictions such as smoking, alcohol and drugs, as well as to help with weight loss.

Once their condition has improved, many patients carry on with treatment as a preventive measure to strengthen and maintain their constitution.

Acupuncture can be used alongside Western Medicine in the treatment of both chronic and acute diseases.
