HOLISTIC MASSAGE AND DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE FOR RELAXATION AND WELL BEING with Samantha Hart MICHT

Holistic massage is both a relaxing and stimulating treatment.

With the use of oil the therapist manipulates the client’s soft body tissue, helping to improve skin tone and muscle tone. At the same time it rids the body of toxins and improves circulation.

Massage therapy has a beneficial physiological effect on all the major body systems. It can be very relaxing and it can aid the recovery and ease the symptoms of many health complaints including stress, anxiety, insomnia and backache.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage is a massage that works on the deeper layers of muscle tissue.

It focuses on re-aligning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue.

It is especially helpful for chronically tense and contracted areas such as stiff necks, low back tightness and sore shoulders.

What treatment involves

A client’s first treatment involves asking information about their health, vitality, medical history and general well being. If you have a medical condition or are taking any kind of medication please consult your doctor before booking a massge appointement. All information given is treated as confidential.

Privacy is provided for the removal of clothes down to underwear and the massage will take place in a warm, respectful, caring atmosphere maintaining their modesty and personal comfort by the use of towels at all times to cover areas not being massaged.

Relaxing music can be played or the client can just enjoy the silence and relax. The client is encouraged to tell the massage therapist if they would like lighter or firmer pressure, if an area is tender or painful or if they would like more time spent on a particular area of the body, during the massage.

Cautions and Contraindications

Massage is generally considered to be a very safe form of therapy. There are however a few ailments that do not benefit from massage:
  • Inflammation or sore soft tissue - massaging over inflamed or soft tissues will make it worse.

  • Thrombosis - people with a history of thrombosis should not be massaged because it could encourage a clot to come loose and enter the blood.

  • Fever

  • Open wounds

  • Varicose veins - it is okay to massage the rest of the body if a client has this condition.

  • Skin disorders like psoriasis, eczema and acne can be aggravated by massage. Bacterial, fungal or viral infections cannot be massaged.

  • Cancer due to the risk that tumours can be spread through the body or that it might be painful.

  • Drugs and alcohol massage cannot be given to anyone under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
If you have a medical condition or are on any form of medication please consult your doctor before booking an appointment.
