About Us
Kesh Patel studied human nutrition at Southampton University, and exercise science at Bristol University, and is the face behind Origin Health. He holds further qualifications in personal training, sports therapy, sports psychology, and neuro-linguistic programming, and has over 15 years experience in health and fitness, designing innovative physical education programmes that have strong roots in animal behaviour, early motor development, and bodyweight-based functional fitness. He is the author of two books, 'Corrective Exercise: A Practical Approach', and 'The Complete Guide to Postural Training'.
His commitment to continual self-development has led him on a journey of exploration and self study across a diverse range of movement forms. He is a big fan of back-to-basics physical education - a low-tech, high-effect methodology that favours natural and playful body weight movements over machines and unnecessary gadgets. He enjoys practicing the methods and utilising the techniques of yoga, gymnastics, plyometrics, Ginástica Natural, Parkour, climbing, Ground Core, La Méthode Naturelle, and the Feldenkrais Method. He has acted like a monkey his entire life, and will continue to do so as long as he lives.
When it comes to health and fitness, Kesh believes in an approach that has its roots in continuing the education we received early on in life. As he often says, '....I strongly believe in the process of re-education within the context of physical health, because we already know how to move - we learned the fundamentals of it during the first two years of life.....this is an important observation, because in no form of animal life, including humans is movement an inherited habit - it's an immediately occurring interaction between the individual organism and the force of gravity - an interaction that is highly adaptive'. It is this process of continuous adaptation that Kesh seeks to restore and enhance within his own personal development and those of his clients - a process that can be effectively applied to personal fitness training, injury rehabilitation, and sports performance enhancement.
To this day, he remains respectful (and quietly in awe) of the unsung heroes of physical culture who epitomise the potential of human movement and beyond - the dancers, gymnasts, free climbers, martial artists, traceurs, acrobats, yogis, and Magnus Scheving - who all make it look so effortless and graceful.
He currently practices as a personal trainer, sports therapist, registered nutritionist, and NLP Master Practitioner, and delivers forward, backward and laterally thinking seminars and workshops in the areas of functional fitness and performance health. He is also a sports therapy lecturer for Raworth College, and has recently joined the team at Performance Training Solutions, delivering cutting edge training for the National Academy of Sports Medicine.
When he's not working, you will probably find him brachiating at the local playground, or up a tree. He lives in Surrey with his wife Suzanne, and daughter Maya India.
