About Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic care helps reduce symptoms that arise from people’s joints, bones and muscles, and the effects they can have on the nervous system. Chiropractors work mainly on the spine from the neck down to the low back, but also treat problems associated with the limbs.

Chiropractic adjustments involve hands on gentle procedures that improve the movement and function of the joints. Other treatments given include ultra-sound therapy, stretches, soft and deep tissue therapies, dry needling, and ergonomic advice.

At your first visit we will talk about your pain, discuss your previous medical health, and then undertake a physical examination. It may be that x-rays are required as part of the diagnostic process. Once we have gathered all the information we will explain our findings to you and discuss how chiropractic can help you, or discuss the need to refer you to a different practitioner.

Once you have had all your questions answered and you have decided to start treatment we will commence.

A typical course of care requires around six to twelve treatments, and will be tailored to the individual patient.

John Pursglove

John Pursglove

Before gaining his MSc in Chiropractic from the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic (Bournemouth) in 2000, and a BSc(Hons) in Physiology from Southampton University, John previously had a career as an Orthotist treating orthotic patients within the NHS.

John has been dedicated to different aspects of health during his career, thereby gaining experience with all age groups. A commitment to patient care is John’s motivation, and it is being with patients and helping them that John enjoys the most. Good health is important and requires an individual approach to each patient, and spending time to more accurately understand their problem is most effective in resolving musculoskeletal problems. Chiropractic care is an excellent vehicle to alleviate many of these problems.

Keeping up to date with his Chiropractic education is vital. John regularly undertakes courses to increase his understanding of the way chiropractic can assist patients in their daily lives.

John is registered with the General Chiropractic Council, and is a member of both the British Chiropractic Association, and the College of Chiropractors.

Matthew Bishop Sports Therapist

Matthew is a fully qualified Sports/Remedial Massage Therapist. He has been involved in the fitness industry since 2001 and holds Diploma’s in both Sports Therapy and Personal Training.

Sports/Remedial Massage

Remedial massage is beneficial for everyone, for both people who have physically demanding jobs as well as those whose work life is more sedentary such as with office work, and driving jobs etc. Repetitive actions due to all kinds of work loads can produce muscle and joint problems that have similar characteristics to sports injuries.

Remedial massage is significantly helpful for many injuries including muscle strains and ligament sprains, as well as for generalised aches and pains that may occur from any daily activity. Remedial massage can be used to treat the whole body, or just a specifically painful area.
