SERVICES

Welcome to The Physio Co Ltd

Our aim is to help patients of all ages recover quickly from their injuries and achieve their goals whether that be to sit comfortably or run a marathon.

The Physio Company is a group of experienced Chartered Physiotherapists. Our aim is to treat our patients in a way in which we would expect to be treated ourselves with expertise, empathy and skill. Our physiotherapists have been qualified for at least 5 years and also hold specialist post graduate qualifications. The Physio Company is recognised by all major insurance companies.

Our main practice is conveniently located in the centre of Claygate right next to Claygate railway station with ample parking nearby. We also hold in-house clinics at the offices of our corporate clients in the City together with an ergonomic consultancy for a wide range of clients from individuals to large blue chip companies.

What Is Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy is the relief of pain and restoration of normal movement using a variety of “hands on” techniques (manual therapy), exercise and other modalities such as acupuncture and ultrasound.

Physiotherapy is a safe form of treatment and often reduces the need for pain relieving drugs.

What we do

In your initial assessment we will take a detailed history of your problem together with any relevant medical history. Examination will consist of looking at your movement, examining the joints, muscles and nerves where appropriate. For back, hip and knee problems you may need to undress to your underwear, you are welcome to bring shorts with you. If you have a running injury it would be helpful if you could bring your trainers. Following the assessment we would be able to discuss our findings and give you a working diagnosis and decide on a treatment plan, treatment would be given in the same appointment as the initial assessment. As part of treatment advice on posture, preventative measures and a home exercise plan would be given if appropriate. Every treatment plan is tailored to the findings from the initial assessment and to the individual patient.

In some cases a referral to a Specialist doctor is required, we have a network of Specialists that we work with and together with your GP would be happy to refer you to them.

If you have never had Physiotherapy before and are not sure what to expect, please feel free to contact us.

Our treatments are based on the latest research findings. All our Physiotherapists attend regular training sessions and Conferences to keep their skills and knowledge updated.

Depending on our findings during the initial assessment, treatment may consist of some of the following treatments:
  • Gentle mobilisation (movement) of stiff and/or painful joints to improve movement and relieve pain
  • Manipulation of stiff/locked joints to improve joint movement
  • Correction of muscle imbalance by; Release of tight muscles by stretching, deep tissue massage, myofascial techniques, trigger point work
  • Exercises to strengthen weak muscles, improve posture, improve core stability (Pilates based exercises). Relax tight muscles
  • Ultrasound to accelerate soft tissue healing
  • Acupuncture for pain relief and release of tight muscles (trigger point acupuncture)
