    Reflexology

Reflexology is a Complementary Therapy that works on the feet or hands enabling the body to heal itself. Following illness, stress, injury or disease, it is in a state of "imbalance", and vital energy pathways are blocked, preventing the body from functioning effectively. reflexology can be used to restore and maintain the body's natural equilibrium and encourage healing.
A Reflexologist uses hands only to apply pressure to the feet. For each person the application and the effect of the therapy is unique. Sensitive, trained hands can detect tiny deposits and imbalances in the feet, and by working on these points the Reflexologist can release blockages and restore the free flow of energy to the whole body. Tensions are eased, and circulation and elimination is improved. This gentle therapy encourages the body to heal itself, often counteracting a lifetime of misuse. Since reflexology treats the whole person, not just the symptoms of disease, most people benefit from treatment.

    Reflexology is suitable for :

  • Acute and chronic conditions
  • Stress related conditions
  • Sleep disorders
  • Children and adults
  • Sports injuries
  • Preventative therapy
  • Indeed reflexology can benefit almost everyone. An increasing number of people are using this safe, natural therapy as a way of relaxing, balancing and harmonising the body.

    Reiki Therapy

Reiki is a treatment for helping body, mind, and spirit, and is very different to traditional medicine.
It is a Japanese technique for healing, stress reduction, and relaxation. It is based on the belief that energy flows through us. This unseen energy is typically referred to as "life force energy" or ki. Practitioners believe that ki is all around us and can be harnessed by the mind. Many cultures, past and present have shared the belief in this unseen force and it is believed that one is more vulnerable to stress and illness when reserves of life energy are low.
Reiki practitioners channel this energy to help their clients. Reiki heals by breaking up negative energy and replacing it with positive, healing energy, which passes through the hands of the practitioner. The hands of experienced Reiki practitioners are said to grow hot when giving a treatment.

    Crystal Therapy

Most people are aware of their physical body but not always aware of their invisible ‘energy’ body. Like your physical body, your life force energy can become damaged, leading to ‘dis-ease’ with physical or emotional disturbance or illness.
The crystals contain energy, which vibrates in tune with various regions of the body. These energies help the body and mind to regain the balance needed to maintain physical and emotional wellbeing.

    Advanced/ deep tissue massage

Deep tissue massage is a type of massage therapy that focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue.
It is especially helpful for chronically tense and contracted areas such as stiff necks, low back tightness, and sore shoulders. Some of the same strokes are used as classic massage therapy, but the movement is slower and the pressure is deeper and concentrated on areas of tension and pain.

How does deep tissue massage work?

When there is chronic muscle tension or injury, there are usually adhesions (bands of painful, rigid tissue) in muscles, tendons, and ligaments.

Adhesions can block circulation and cause pain, limited movement, and inflammation.

Deep tissue massage works by physically breaking down these adhesions to relieve pain and restore normal movement. To do this, the massage therapist often uses direct deep pressure or friction applied across the grain of the muscles.

    Will deep tissue massage hurt?

At certain points during the massage, most people find there is usually some discomfort and pain.

It is important to tell the massage therapist when things hurt and if any soreness or pain you ecperience is outside your comfort range.

There is usually some stiffness or pain after a deep tissue massage, but it should subside within a day or so. The massage therapist may recommend applying ice to the area after the massage.

What conditions is deep tissue massage used for?

Unlike classic massage therapy, which is used for relaxation, deep tissue massage usually focuses on a specific problem, such as:

  • Chronic pain
  • Limited mobility
  • Recovery from injuries (e.g. whiplash, falls, sports injury)
  • Repetitive strain injury, such as carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Postural problems
  • Ostearthritis pain
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Muscle tension or spasm

    Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is the therapeutic use of essential oils, from flowers, trees and shrubs and their fruits, blooms, leaves, stems and roots.

    What does it involve?

Essential oils are usually either massaged into the body, to be absorbed through the skin, or inhaled by means of vaporisers. They may also be added to steam inhalations or baths, added to compresses or spread throughout a room with diffusers.

    What's it used for?

    to aid relaxation and general wellbeing. Aromatherapy can help ease a wide assortment of ailments;
easing aches, pains, and injuries, while relieving the discomforts of many health problems.

Aromatherapy also acts on the central nervous system, relieving depression and anxiety, reducing stress, relaxing, uplifting, sedating or stimulating, restoring both physical and emotional wellbeing
