Chiropody

Introduction to chiropody

Our feet do not generally get the attention they deserve. This may be because for most of the time they are hidden in shoes and don't contribute to our overall appearance. In societies where shoes are never worn, foot problems only affect 3% of the adult population. When footwear is worn, this rises to a staggering 80%. Neglecting the feet can cause pain and can have serious consequences. Many cases of neglect are caused by wearing shoes that do not fit properly. Some shoes are simply not designed to fit the natural shape of the foot.

The feet support the body and have to take considerable strain. In the average lifetime your feet will carry you 70,000 miles! We tend to only notice our feet when we have a problem. However, they are the foundation of our body and are vital to our well-being.

Whether you have a problem now, or wish to prevent problems in the future, you are advised to visit a qualified chiropodist who is registered with the Health Professions Council.

Reflexology

What is reflexology?

Reflexology is a holistic therapy based on the principle that all the organs and parts of the body are reflected on the soles of the feet. Reflexology views your feet as a map with certain points corresponding to different areas of the body. Gentle pressure applied to these points can help to ease symptoms and restore the balance of your whole body.

Who is it for?

Reflexology treats the whole person, so most people can benefit from treatment. The therapy can bring relief to a wide range of conditions, encouraging the body to heal itself at its own pace; restoring and maintaining the body's natural equilibrium. An increasing number of people are using this pleasant, natural therapy as a way of relaxing, balancing and harmonizing the body.

All appointments are one hour. A full medical history will be taken at the start of the first treatment. The treatment is not uncomfortable and you need only remove your footwear.
Benefits of reflexology
  • reduces stress, tension and fatigue
  • relaxes the mind, body and spirit
  • gives a sense of well-being
  • stimulates the circulation
