SERVICES

Welcome to Sugarwax

Sugarwax is a one-man business offering a range of male and female hair removal treatments. I provide all the standard treatments for both men and women but I specialise in intimate hair removal for men. It’s very important that any therapist you decide to use has the correct qualifications, insurance and experience. I was trained by the Bournemouth based “Simply Sugaring Training School” and belong to The Guild Of Professional Beauty Therapists so whatever hair removal treatment you are looking for, from a half leg to a full body, you can rest assured that you are in good hands.

I operate from a fully equipped private treatment room in my home.

I am open from Tuesday to Saturday 9:00am - 6:00pm and you must book an appointment in advance. Please try and give as much notice as possible – I will always try to fit you in but booking early will usually mean you get the appointment time you’d like.

Later appointments are sometimes available on request.

Receive £5 off any treatment when you introduce a friend or colleague. Please ask for details at your appointment.

On your first appointment with me please allow ten minutes for an initial consultation.

If this is your first treatment, or you have not had a treatment for a while and the hair has grown back fully, please try and trim any bushy or long hair to approximately 10mm. If you are unable to trim please let me know when you book the appointment as trimming adds time to your session and may incur an extra charge for larger areas i.e. back torso, front torso and legs.

Avoid over-heating your skin for 24 hours prior to your appointment, i.e. no sun bed, sunbathing, sauna, steam room, vigorous exercise.

Do not apply any moisturisers, massage or bath oils to the area to be treated for 24 hours prior to your appointment as this will reduce the effectiveness of the sugar paste and the end result will not be as good.

Do not exfoliate your skin for four days prior to your appointment. This is important as, along with the hairs, the sugar paste also removes the top layer of dead skin cells. If that layer is not there the paste will remove a layer of live skin cells which could make the treatment more painful.

Do not shave or use depilatory creams in between treatments. Depilatory creams are designed to melt the hair and they contain chemicals. As with shaving they take the hair from the surface and make the hair and root stronger, therefore encouraging re-growth. It is a temporary “fix it” method and will undo all the good achieved by Sugaring. It is best to stick to one method of hair removal. Sugaring encourages finer and sparser re-growth as it removes hair from the root.

You must check with your Doctor prior to booking an appointment if you suffer from any of the following:
  • Diabetes
  • Varicose Veins
  • On medication such as Roaccutane
  • Sugaring is a safe method of hair removal for almost all hair and skin types, even sensitive skin, although it is advisable to have a free test patch done if you are unsure. Please ask at the time of booking.

    Post-Treatment Advice

Aftercare is very important and you will be provided with some written advice to take away with you at the end of your appointment. Wearing loose clothing is strongly advised as this will not only be more comfortable for you but also help to prevent infection during the all-important first few hours. It’s very tempting to touch newly smooth, hair-free skin but this must be avoided for the first 24 hours as it’s a sure fire way to get dirt into the open hair follicles and risk infection. After your treatment it’s a great idea to have a warm bath, adding natural sea salts if possible, especially after an intimate treatment, full body or back/front torso.

For great results it’s important to regularly exfoliate and moisturise your skin. This helps to weaken the hairs and prevent ingrowing hairs but should not be done for four days either side of your sugaring treatment. Exfoliating mitts are available to purchase at the time of your appointment.

    QUALIFICATION DETAILS

It’s very important that any therapist you decide to use has the correct qualifications, insurance and experience. I was trained by the Bournemouth based “Simply Sugaring Training School” and belong to The Guild Of Professional Beauty Therapists so whatever hair removal treatment you are looking for, from a half leg to a full body, you can rest assured that you are in good hands. As far as I know, I am the only Axiom* Certified therapist in Bournemouth, specifically trained to remove hair from male intimate areas as painlessly as possible. Many insurance companies will not insure therapists without specific qualifications and I can guarantee that I am fully insured for all my treatments. My certificates are proudly displayed on my treatment room wall. *Under Habia’s new National Occupational Standards, Axiom are the first providers in the UK to offer certificated training in the advanced technique of male intimate hair removal. Habia is the standard setting body for the hair, beauty, nails and spa industries.
