SERVICES

Welcome to The Leigh Road Physiotherapy Sports Injury Clinic

The Prestwich Physiotherapy and Sports Injuries Clinic was established by Sid Ahamed MCSP in 1990 and the Leigh Road Clinic in 2003 by Sid and his business partner Stuart Morris MCSP. Their mutual vision was to establish Manchester’s leading private physiotherapy service.

Sid & Stuart have worked closely in the NHS and private sector with many of the region’s pioneering consultant specialists and G.Ps. This experience has helped them to develop one of the largest and most successful physiotherapy services in Manchester.

They have put together a physiotherapy team second to none and to ensure they remain abreast of current medical developments the clinic provides a comprehensive post graduate training programme. The clinical staff are supported by a practice manager, dedicated medical secretaries, receptionists and clerical staff.

The clinics have invested in the latest state of the art computerised strength testing and electrotherapy equipment. In addition to treatment the staff can provide advice on exercise and training. There are also dedicated staff who specialise in Pilates and core stability work and can provide personalised tuition.

Who do we treat

Everyone can access our service from children aged 8 through to adults of all ages. We are a private service and patients can self refer and pay for treatment after each session. For those patients who hold medical insurance we are registered with all providers and can deal with them directly – please refer to your insurers help desk for advice regarding referral to our service.

If you need any help contact our receptionists who will be pleased to assist.

What is Physiotherapy

Simply put, physiotherapy encompasses a range of skills and techniques to aid and accelerate the body’s natural healing processes and to reduce pain. Physiotherapy is an established profession of over 100 years standing. Modern physiotherapy is a progressive and research based profession embracing the concepts of evidence based practice and clinical governance.

A physiotherapist is trained to assess and diagnose your condition and subsequently treat the problem or when appropriate to refer you on for further investigation or treatment to your G.P or a consultant specialist

Chartered Physiotherapists are trained by the NHS to work in hospitals and the private sector and must maintain their training and standards throughout their career. This assures you and your family the highest medical standards.

The modern physiotherapist utilises a wide range of skills including manipulation and mobilisation techniques, massage and rehabilitative exercise. These are often used in combination with sophisticated electrotherapy equipment.
