Welcome to Yoga & Holistic Therapies

It was upon meeting my Teacher that for me the true essence of Yoga was felt.

There had been other Yoga classes which I had attended and enjoyed but none of which had touched my heart in such a way. The invitation to come into a class and give oneself inner space and stillness, whilst at the same time keeping the body open and healthy. It is my wish that when meeting in this space together we can feel what my teacher has shared with me. To stop for a moment, and allow ourselves to feel peace.



Types of Yoga

HATHA YOGA
This class is based on the Sivananda Yoga system where a set of 12 postures are practiced with focus on breath and movement flow. Each class begins with a relaxation to offer rest from the day, moving through some Yoga asana (postures) and Pranayama (breathing exercises) . Time is always spent at the end of each class with relaxation and meditation. Hatha Yoga classes are suited to all ages and abilities from complete beginners to those who enjoy the more gentle and quiet side to the practice whilst allowing the body to open ,strengthen and encouraged flexibility. It is a mis-conception that one has to be already flexible in order to practice Yoga (asana). The body opens with ease when allowed. Therefore a gentle and soft approach is encouraged to nurture and sooth the body rather than push or force . Our approach and intention to the subject will effect the practice as a whole and so we may find more benefit in developing a kind and compassionate relationship with ourselves. From this place we may be able to feel a little more peace. Yoga can then be enjoyed as much more than an exercise on a mat but an opportunity to allow ourselves to unravel and relax. >

ASHTANGA YOGA
This class is a more Dynamic class based on the Ashtanga practice going through a set of standing ,seated and inverted postures to allow the body to gain stamina, strength and flexibility. Although this is a stronger class the same approach is encouraged so that whilst allowing the body to open our intention is the same. Time is always spent at the end of class for relaxation and mediation.
