Therapy Descriptions
Holistic Massage
Massage has been widely used throughout history and is probably one of the oldest forms of healing.
Swedish massage tends to be the basis of most approaches to massage. It involves a number of manual techniques aimed to relax, strengthen and stimulate the muscles. Holistic massage is a term used for massage that addresses the whole person - most masseurs use this approach.
It works on all the systems of the body and helps the body systems function more effectively - speeding up the removal of waste and elimination of toxins.
Indian Head Massage
The traditional art of Indian Head Massage is based on the ancient system of medicine known as Ayurveda, which has been an important part of family ritual for thousands of years.
The word “Ayurveda” comes from Sanskrit and means “the science of life and longevity”. The Ayurvedic approach to health is the balance of body, mind and spirit, and the promotion of a long life.
The massage, which is received fully clothed and seated in a chair, concentrates on easing upper body tension. Massage techniques are applied to the head, neck, shoulders and upper back. The receiver benefits from improved circulation, joint mobility, muscle tone, relaxation and a feeling of peace and well-being. Particular oils may be used to enhance the effect of the massage - this is optional.
Hot Stone Massage
Harnessing the properties of the volcanic basalt stones, the therapist bathes them in warm water and anoints them with spicy, sensual aromas of the Orient. Small stones are placed on key energy points on the body, evolving an aura of warmth, whilst the deep penetrating heat from the stones are used to massage the body using traditional techniques to release muscular tension and balance the spirit.
Sports/Remedial Massage
Remedial Massage is an effective use of massage and movement to treat the many common musculoskeletal problems that afflict the population. Such conditions include: spasm of the back muscles, disc problems, injuries to the major joints of the body, painful neck and shoulder problems, headaches and arthritic conditions.
Sports Massage helps athletes to prepare for competition. It keeps them in peak physical condition and also aids in relative quick recovery from sporting injuries.
Table Thai Massage
The Lazy Mans Yoga
Thai massage is an ancient form of therapeutic healing. Its roots are in India from where it was brought to Thailand over 2000 years ago. The receiver is put into yoga-like positions during the course of the massage using guided stretching movements. The massage therapist leans on the recipient's body using hands and forearms to apply firm rhythmic pressure to almost every part of the receiver's body. The massage generally follows the Sen Energy lines on the body (the Sen are comparable to Chinese meridians). I perform the treatment on a massage table, with the client clothed. It is both energizing and deeply relaxing.
My treatments are flexible and I can incorporate a variety of different styles in to one treatment. Please feel free to discuses this with me on :
