SERVICES

Welcome to the College of Classical Massage

We run a variety of massage training courses which cater for varying requirements. Courses are held in Brighton and Bath at weekends and on weekdays. We offer high quality tuition with specialist tutors, in a supportive group setting.

We run a ITEC Diploma in Holistic Massage and Introduction to Body Massage in Bath Spa. Bath is easily accessed by the adjacent towns: Bristol, Cirencester, Bradford-on-Avon, Trowbridge, Warminster, Salisbury, Frome, Glastonbury, and Swindon. This Diploma course will be commencing in October 2009 and will incorporate the ITEC Diploma in Anatomy and Physiology.

In Brighton, we run various courses including ITEC Diplomas in Holistic Massage and Sports Massage, introductory courses and post-graduate courses. Our students come locally from Brighton and Hove, and also from London, East and West Sussex, Southampton, Chichester, Eastbourne, Portsmouth, often enjoying the convenience of weekend training courses.

Career Opportunities - Many of our students intend to work as Professional Therapists, often practising alternative therapy in addition to their current career or as a full time occupation. Others study for the pleasure of learning about the body and its healing systems and the opportunity to work on their family and friends.

Holistic Massage

Learn this beautiful technique with the guidance and support of Michael Gibbons, who will share his experience and knowledge of Classical Massage drawing on his many years of practice and advanced trainings.

Classes are taught in a relaxed environment using talks, lectures, visuals and detailed practical demonstration. Students work closely with the tutor learning not only the techniques but also how to protect themselves from the strain and stress while carrying out body therapy.

An important part of training with the college is to trust and develop your intuition and blend massage techniques to suit each individual.

Anatomy and Physiology

It is important for therapists to understand how the body functions and heals itself. This is a fascinating subject to study. You will learn about the cell, skin, skeletal, muscular, vascular, lymphatic, nervous, endocrine, reproductive, digestive, respiratory and urinary systems.

Students learn through talks and active participation. Regular homestudy is carefully designed to prepare our students for their examinations.

As part of your training, students need to receive two massages from a qualified practitioner. This is so you can experience what a completed massage is like.
You will also learn about professional conduct, ethics, client management, setting up a business and contraindications.

A British Red Cross or St John’s Ambulance First Aid Certificate will need to be completed externally and the certificate presented at the end of the course.
