I am trained to be able to recognise body language, tonality of voice, language patterns and themes of issues from before. I also have the skills to recognise when something is too painful for you to talk about.

I have a ‘toolkit’ of techniques that promote positive changes which is backed by research and evidence.

By seeking the help of a properly trained professional you are empowering yourself to make positive changes with someone who is non-judgemental and who treats your issues with empathy and in confidence.

I am based in Taunton and my office offers relaxed and confidential sessions for individuals, couples and young people. I also offer telephone counselling, Home visits (for those unable to come to the office), Corporate and Groups.

About Me
I started my working life in finance but quickly realised that I was much more interested in people and the way the brain worked, especially patterns of behaviour, habits, depression and the problems of overcoming stressful and traumatic situations.

I retrained to become a counsellor and gained the “European Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling”. Since then I have also gained a “Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy “and a “Diploma in N.L.P. to Advanced Master Practitioner Level.

I work with an integrative approach (one size does not fit all) and my broad experience and intuition ensures that you receive a treatment programme which is designed especially for you. I am committed to ongoing professional development and am a member of the General Hypnotherapy Register which means that I am bound by their strict code of ethics and conduct.




What is hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is a quick and effective method to help clients make changes in their life both practically and psychologically. It can also accelerate the healing process relating to many physiological problems. Perhaps one of the most positive and beneficial aspects of hypnosis is it introduces clients to a profound level of relaxation where self-healing can occur in the most natural way possible. As a result doctors are becoming increasingly supportive of hypnotherapy as a non invasive aid to better health and the treatment of illness.

Hypnotherapy isn’t about hypnotising you into a state of unconsciousness and not knowing what you are doing, like many of the things you see on holiday or at a party. Hypnotherapy is an effective, clinically proven method of breaking unwanted habits and thought processes that can, if done by a fully trained therapist really cure you of your addictions such as smoking, alcohol, over-eating, and unwanted feelings and behaviours such as depression, anxiety and even phobias quickly, easily, comfortably and naturally.

So Hypnotherapy/Hypnosis isn’t a deep sleep or an unconscious state but is a trance like feeling that relaxes the whole body and magnifies concentration. You will be fully aware at all times but being extremely relaxed means you can focus on specific suggestions made by the therapist. These suggestions, which are personalised for you, will allow you to make positive lasting changes.

The use of hypnotherapy has proven results in changing undesirable behaviour. It is as old as mankind and today it is seen in a variety of fields such as medicine, dentistry, law enforcement, professional sports and education.

We go in and out of hypnosis naturally during our normal daily lives.




What is Psychotherapy?

Sometimes referred to as the “talking therapy” psychotherapy is one of the oldest means of addressing anxiety and other disorders through a caring and honest approach. Psychotherapy provides a supportive environment to talk openly and confidentially about your concerns and feelings.

At some time in our lives we may feel overwhelmed and need help dealing with our problems. These can be anything from, Depression, bereavement, stress, relationship problems, losing a job or substance abuse. Through therapy millions of people of all ages live healthier and more productive lives. By using scientifically validated procedures I can help people to change their thoughts, emotions and behaviours.

What is N.L.P. – Neuro- Linguistic Programming?

Think of something that you would like to change about yourself. It could be a phobia, a lack of confidence, a limiting belief, a dependency on smoking, a tendency to put on weight, a bad habit or even an inability to progress in your career. Now imagine being free of that problem. Imagine how you would feel, what you would see, what you would hear, what you may think to yourself. Just how good would that be? Just imagine how much better your life would be if you achieve this.

Through using a range of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) techniques it is possible to make significant changes to any area of your life quickly and easily. If you think in terms of the brain being a computer and our thoughts and actions being the software programmes, then NLP is a kind of software manual.

Essentially, by gaining an understanding of how we create and maintain our inner thoughts and feelings when we have a problem, it is possible then to change them to new thoughts and feelings that have a more positive effect on our lives.
