What is Chinese Medicine? Chinese medicine is a comprehensive and highly effective medical system, which has undergone thousands of years of constant development and testing.
Chinese medicine views the body as a constantly changing functional dynamic, with a state of health being representative of balanced function of the body/mind as a whole. Conversely, disease is seen as a disruption of this dynamic, with treatment being aimed at restoring balanced function.
Treatment comes in a number of forms including acupuncture, herbal medicine and tui na massage, which can be used singularly or in combination.
About Laurie Ayres I graduated from the London College of Traditional Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine after 3 years training in acupuncture, 1 1/2 years of training in Tui Na, and 2 years training in Chinese herbal medicine. This training included 2 years of supervised clinical experience. I hold a BSc (Hons) degree in acupuncture, licentiate diplomas in acupuncture (Lic Ac), tui na (Lic Tui Na) and oriental herbal medicine (Lic OHM), and am a member of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC) the British Tui Na Association (BTNA) and the Register of Chinese Herbal Medicine (RCHM)
I have a special interest in treating people with autoimmune diseases.
I engage in continuous, ongoing research and study, focusing on the classical Chinese herbal medicine of the Shang Han Lun system, primarily with Dr Arnaud Versluys.
