PERSONAL PROFILE
Helen Shortland is a Complementary Therapist offering Reiki healing, Reflexology, Indian Head Neck & Shoulders Massage, Hopi Ear Candles, Thai Foot Massage, Kha Sekh Em (an Egyptian healing system) and Crystal Healing. She is based in Nottingham city centre in one of the newly refurbished therapy rooms at The Little London Herbal Store, 9 Kings Walk, Nottingham, NG1 2AE on Fridays and Saturdays.
Helen's move into complementary therapies began in early 2001 when she attended a Reiki 1 training course "out of interest". She was so impressed with Reiki's ability to promote healing and restore balance to the body that she went on to take the Level 2 Practitioner course later that year. She became a Usui Reiki Master in 2004 and an Egyptian Cartouche Master in 2008 and offers training courses on a regular basis. She has recently qualified as a Meditation Teacher and will be running meditation workshops in the near future. She is also studying Chi Kung and Yoga and hopes to offer Chi Kung classes by late spring/early summer.

THERAPIES
Reiki Healing
Reiki is a form of hands-on, spiritual healing which boosts energy levels and restores and maintains balance, health and harmony on all levels of our being - physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. Reiki promotes the healing process within the physical body, calms and balances us emotionally and mentally, and helps to release negative blocks/karma at a deep soul level. Reiki enhances any orthodox medical treatment the client may be receiving. The procedure is non-invasive and the client remains fully clothed. Reiki can also be combined with crystals for a deeper, more powerful treatment.
Kha Sekh Em
A high vibration energy healing system once practiced in the temples of ancient Egypt, harnessing the elemental energies of earth, air, fire, water and spirit to heal the body on all levels. Incorporates sacred symbols, power words, tuning forks, etheric crystals and sacred colour breathing. Kha Sekh Em raises your personal vibration, energises and relaxes, balances the brain and assists healing of all physical ailments, depression and stress-related conditions.
The full treatment is 1 hr 15 mins and includes working hands-on or working in the aura, opening up the aura to release stuck negative energy (psychic surgery), negative energy drain technique and rebalancing the body. Shorter treatments are also available.
Reflexology
By stimulating the reflex points on the feet, balance and healing is promoted in the corresponding organs of the body. Reflexology revitalises the body by encouraging free flow of the energy that links all bodily systems and all levels of our being. It works to removes energy blockages in order to heal imbalances, improve circulation, soothe pain/inflammation, ease tension and promote detoxification. Particularly beneficial for headaches and sinusitis, digestive problems, joint pain, back pain, hormonal imbalance, circulatory problems, stress and insomnia, and for maintaining good health.
Indian Head Neck & Shoulders Massage
A relaxing, therapeutic massage of the upper back, shoulders, neck, scalp and face. It promotes calm and relaxation, reduces stress levels and blood pressure, relieves eye strain and tension headaches, improves blood circulation and muscle tone, aids sleep and gives a general sense of wellbeing. Also helpful in cases of sinusitis, depression, anxiety and nervous disorders. The treatment ends with a facial massage to stimulate energy points, increase circulation of blood and lymph, promote sinus and lymphatic drainage and provide a sense of complete relaxation.
Hopi Ear Candles
A gentle, relaxing therapy beneficial for many problems related to the ear and head or for pure relaxation and wellbeing. Particularly useful in cases of tinnitus, sinusitis, rhinitis, glue-ear, colds and flu, sinus related headaches and migraine. This therapy regulates pressure in the head and ears and helps to balance fluids in the inner ear so is helpful in cases of vertigo and Meniere’s Syndrome. Can be helpful in cases of excessive/compacted wax. The treatment ends with a facial massage to stimulate energy points, increase blood circulation and promote sinus and lymphatic drainage.
Thai Foot Massage
A therapeutic massage of the legs, feet and hands to relieve aching joints and stiff muscles and improve circulation, flexibility and muscle tone. Helps relieve painful joints, reduces occurrence of muscle cramp and promotes relaxation.
Foot Massage
Boosts circulation, eases tension, very relaxing.
Aqua Detox Foot Spa
Restores the balance of positive and negative ions in the body. Removes toxins from food additives, pollutants and pesticides, leaving you feeling revitalised and rebalanced. Treatment includes a 20 minute Head/Neck/Shoulders massage or Reiki treatment.
Reiki Training Courses
Reiki is a form of spiritual, hands-on healing. It is a powerful tool for healing and spiritual growth. Classes are kept small; manual and certificate supplied.
Reiki 1: £75 (2 days)
Learn techniques for self-healing and treating family and friends.
Reiki 2: £120 (2 days)
Develop your healing ability further and send distant healing. Enables you to practice professionally (with insurance).
Reiki 3: £300 (2 days)
Deepen your healing ability further and learn how to attune and teach others.
Egyptian Cartouche Initiations/Mastery
Attunements to various archetypal energies of Ancient Egypt to promote spiritual and psychic development.
Initiations: £100 (1 day)
