Sharon Darby

Sharon has a PhD in microbiology and worked previously in the pharmaceutical industry. Disillusioned with industry and western science, and driven by a desire to help people directly and a growing interest in complementary medicine, she decided to re-train as an acupuncturist. She was drawn to Chinese Medicine because of the value it places on a person as an individual; it recognises we are all so different, and we shouldn’t be treated as just another statistic.
Over the last few years, Sharon has seen acupuncture make a huge difference to peoples’ lives: relieving their pain, giving them energy, lifting their spirits, or releasing huge emotional burdens. Most importantly, acupuncture has the ability to empower people to restore their own health, enjoy activities they thought were lost to them and regain their zest for life. Inspiring stuff!
Sharon studied acupuncture for three and a half years at the renowned College of Integrated Chinese Medicine in Reading. During her training, she learned how to integrate the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Five Element approaches to diagnosis and treatment. The degree course is validated by Kingston University and accredited by the British Acupuncture Accreditation Board (BAAB). She graduated with First Class honours, and has been treating patients in Southend-on-Sea since August 2007.
Sharon is a member of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC) and as such is bound by strict Codes of Safe Practice and Professional Conduct. These codes ensure that patients are offered the highest standards of professional care during their treatment.
