What is Shiatsu

Shiatsu is a healing physical therapy which originated in Japan. Since the 1970's Shiatsu has developed internationally and is now widely used throughout the world. It incorporates influences from both Oriental Medicine and Western therapies.

The practitioner applies pressure with palms, thumbs and elbows along energy channels (meridians) to stimulate the body's natural healing power. Rotations and gentle stretches may be used to release tension in the body. Shiatsu is characterized by its great simplicity and is a deeply relaxing therapy that considers the whole person. It can be a gateway to acceptance and healing.

About me

I qualified with a Diploma in Shiatsu from a three year training at the Bristol School of Shiatsu in 2009 and I am a member of the Shiatsu Society UK.

I first came across Shiatsu when working for a complementary cancer care charity. I was deeply moved by the experience of receiving Shiatsu and was amazed by its profound effect it had on my body, mind and spirit.

My background includes teaching; in 2003 I qualified as a primary school teacher in Switzerland. For my personal wellbeing and development I practise meditation, Qi Gong and 5 Rhythms dancing.
