SERVICES

Welcome to One Body Therapy

OneBody Therapy is a private physiotherapy practice based in Little Shelford on the outskirts of Cambridge, just three miles from the M11. The aims of the practice are simple: to provide a holistic approach to the prevention and treatment of acute and chronic injuries.

Elizabeth Barker is a Chartered Physiotherapist (MCSP - member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy), registered with the Health Professions Council. She also is a member of the Organisation of Chartered Physiotherapists in Private Practice (OCPPP) and the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Sports Medicine (ACPSM).

What is Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy aims to restore normal function. Physiotherapy training is very holistic in its approach, with physiotherapists being the health professional specialists in human movement.

By being trained in all of the body's systems, this allows physiotherapists to utilise skills in all the areas to treat the patient individually and holistically.

By identifying why the problem occurred in the first place and incorporating prevention into the treatment plan; along with rehabilitation and return to performance, this enables long term benefit from physiotherapy, rather than just short term benefits.

Physiotherapists are bound by a code of ethics which ensures that they only treat when it is clinically appropriate and with your consent. Where appropriate they will liaise with your GP to ensure the most appropriate course of action.

What techniques do Physiotherapists use?

Physiotherapy treatment uses a combination of manual therapy, exercise therapy and electrotherapy to achieve a long term answer to your individual problem. Everyone is individual, and treatments are tailored to your specific problem, incorporating some or all of the following:
  • Manual therapy, which can include joint and nerve mobilization, soft tissue release, massage and traction

  • Exercise programming, which can involve muscle re-training, strengthening and stretching

  • Electrotherapy modalities including ultrasound

  • Acupuncture

  • Pilates

Conditions Treated

Physiotherapy can be used to treat a wide range of conditions including:
  • Sports and soft tissue injuries: both acute and ongoing, chronic problems

  • Back and neck pain

  • Joint problems, such arthritis, and other hip, knee, ankle, feet, shoulder, elbow, wrist & hand problems
