Acupuncture is a practice which focuses on an individual’s overall well being. Using fine needles, a practitioner will target specific pressure points along the body to unblock and relieve the energy pathways that exist around the body.
Acupuncture originates in China and works with the idea that energy pathways exist and flow all around the body.
The practitioner will insert special needles into the individual’s acupressure points to stimulate, enhance and free the flow of energy around the body, restoring balance and relieving pain.
Acupuncture treatment is tailored to the individual, addressing size, age and area of concern to determine the depth and location of the needle.
Acupuncture is considered a mild pain-level practice with the patient likely to feel some cramping, heaviness, distention, tingling, or electric sensation either around the needle or travelling along the energy pathway.
The patient will usually lay on a massage table and healing may require a number of treatments which will depend on the nature and severity of the complaint.
