Retinitis Pigmentosa

Retinitis pigmentosa is a disease in the eye. When the photoreceptor cells in the retina begin to degenerate, individuals will go through stages of increasingly deteriorating vision. To begin one will begin to lose their peripheral and night vision. In the next stages, the eyes will see in tunnel vision until ultimately leaving the individual blond. There is no cure for Retinitis Pigmentosa however there are treatments which can slow the process down which include vitamin A, occupational therapy and wearing highly polarised sunglasses to minimise the exposure of UV light on the eye.
