Have you been struggling with an issue for some time, which won't go away? Maybe you feel overwhelmed by your problems, but don't want to burden family or friends with your concerns? Sometimes, just knowing that you have someone to talk to on a regular basis, can help you through difficult times in your life; as a qualified and experienced counsellor, who has worked with adults, couples and young people for over eight years, I can offer a safe, therapeutic space where you can off-load whatever is on your mind.
  • No issue is too small or trivial if it is affecting your ability to cope with everyday life.
COUNSELLING FOR MID-LIFE AND BEYOND (see About Me)

If you are 40+, you may be experiencing difficulties with some of the following issues, including: bereavement, mid-life crisis, menopause, ill-health, caring for close relatives, redundancy and relationship breakdown. Any one of the above can cause stress, which may lead to anxiety and depression. You don’t have to cope alone.
  • Giving yourself permission to seek help is the first step towards taking positive action!

About Me

As a qualified and accredited counsellor with the BACP , I am fully committed to providing the best service I can for my clients.

My past experience includes working in a GP’s practice as well as for local charities. I spent four years working at the Counselling and Family Centre Altrincham and was actively involved in several projects designed to extend our service; one being an outreach service to adults in the community, in which I worked with a number of disabled clients in their own homes. I was also a member of the training team delivering in house courses to student counsellors.

I am currently a member of the counselling team at Beacon Counselling in Bramhall, a local charity providing counselling to adults and young people in the Stockport area. Part of my work includes carrying out assessments with new clients who have requested counselling.

I have experience in working with the following issues:
  • Anger Management
  • Anxiety
  • Bereavement
  • Depression
  • Family/Relationship problems
  • Low Self-Esteem
  • Menopause
  • Post-Traumatic Stress
  • Self-Harm
  • Stress
  • Trauma
  • Work Related Issues

I believe continuing professional development is essential in maintaining my knowledge and expertise. In addition to my formal qualifications, I regularly attend CPD training workshops and have recently completed workshops in:
  • Working with Stroke Survivors
  • Working with Men
  • Trauma and Abuse
  • Bereavement
  • Safeguarding Vulnerable Clients

Through both personal and professional experience, I am particularly interested in working with issues around mid-life and beyond. Mid-life (40-50) is often a time when we have to cope with multiple issues and maybe:
  • Feel weighed down by conflicting responsibilities for children and older relatives
  • Experience relationship difficulties
  • Go through mid-life crisis
  • Have employment issues eg redundancy

  • As we get older, we may have to adjust to
  • living with ill-health,
  • caring for a loved one
  • living alone following bereavement
All of the above can cause stress, which may lead to long-term anxiety and depression if positive coping mechanisms are not in place. I can give you the time and space to off-load your concerns and worries in a safe, accepting environment. We will work together to help you through a difficult time in your life.
