Welcome to Aligned For Life
We employ a broad range of evidence based techniques to ensure that the treatment you receive is uniquely tailored to your body's needs. A typical treatment may include:
  • Spinal adjustments
  • Treatment to shoulders/arms/hips/knees and feet
  • Acupuncture to relieve muscular tension
  • Graston technique to reduce scar tissue in ligaments, tendons and muscles
  • Exercise rehabilitation

What we treat

Arthritis
Chiropractic treatment does not cure arthritis but it may provide pain relief in some patients by improving mobility and reducing inflammation. For some arthritic conditions, such as ankylosing spondylitis the NHS recommends "massage and manipulation to improve comfort and spinal flexibility".

Dizziness
Dizziness and vertigo can have many causes and it is advisable to visit your GP before attending the chiropractor. If the GP has ruled out the possibility of more serious conditions then we can often help you.

If the cause of the problem appears to stem from either overstimulation or degeneration of the cervical proprioceptors or their pathways, leading to an imbalance of information, this is referred to as cervicogenic dizziness. This condition will often be associated with neck pain and in approximately 1/3 of patients there is a history of trauma such as a whiplash injury. These problems and others may be helped with chiropractic treatment.

Elbow pain
The elbow is one of the less complex joints of the body, and most of the injuries seen at the clinic are localised muscle, tendon and nerve entrapment issues. Common injuries that we treat include:
  • Tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis)
  • Golfers elbow (medial epicondylitis)
  • Bicep and triceps strains/sprains
  • Forearm muscle strains/sprains

Foot and ankle pain
The ankle and foot contain 26 bones and undergoes complex movement to provide balance, support and shock absorption to your body. It is essential therefore that the foot and ankle works correctly.

The most common conditions involving the foot and ankle are biomechanical and can be treated with chiropractic care. Conditions we treat at the clinic include:
  • Ankle sprains
  • Talus restriction
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Achilles tendonitis and bursitis
  • Mortons neuroma
  • Hallux limitus
  • Fat pad syndrome
  • Radiculopathy from disc prolapse

Headaches
Headaches are one of the most common conditions that we see in practice, they can occur for a variety of reasons. Often poor posture when driving or hours spent at the computer can create tension in the muscles, ligaments, nerves and joints of the neck and shoulders. This often causes a cervicogenic headache which responds well to treatment.

Migraine headaches can be very debilitating and are often associated with nausea, vomiting, light sensitivity and visual disturbance. They can last for just a few hours but sometimes days. They were once believed to be purely vascular in origin, but more recent research shows there to be a neurological component; an area in which chiropractors have considerable knowledge.

Chiropractic treatment can help in the prevention of some patient's migraines and often works well alongside treatment provided by your medical doctor. At Aligned For Life Chiropractic we have had some outstanding results with patients suffering from years of headaches.

Hip pain
Injuries to the hip are usually related to bone and joint problems and can affect both the young and elderly alike. Pain, stiffness or weakness in the hip can have a significant impact on the rest of the body, which chiropractic care can help with. Common hip injuries we treat include:
  • Osteoarthritis (chiropractic cannot cure arthritis but we can help ease your symptoms)
  • Bursitis
  • Tendinitis
  • Muscle strains
  • Referred pain from sacroiliac and lumbar facet joints
  • Nerve entrapment
  • Treatment of the hip focuses on adjusting and mobilising the joint, soft tissue work around the hip area, and stretching and strengthening of the surrounding muscles.

Knee pain
The knee acts as the secondary shock absorber of the body and consequently receives a high degree of impact. It is essential therefore to ensure that the knee functions properly to avoid injury to the rest of the leg and low back.

Knee injuries are often due to sport and general overuse, obesity or traumatic injuries such as a fall. Common injuries we treat at the clinic include:
  • Osteoarthritis (chiropractic cannot cure arthritis but we can help ease your symptoms)
  • Joint misalignment
  • Muscle strain
  • Tendinitis
  • Fascial problems - Iliotibial band syndrome
  • Patellofemoral tracking problems (alignment of the knee cap)

Leg pain
Leg pain can originate from many sources including joint restriction of the spine, pelvis and hips and/or nerve irritation and muscle spasm. With the use of joint adjusting, muscle stretching and exercise rehabilitation we are able to successfully treat many conditions that give rise to leg pain. These may include:
  • Lumbar facet sprain
  • Sacroiliac joint sprain
  • Irritation to spinal nerve roots
  • Iliotibial band syndrome
  • Muscle strains
  • Shin splints

Low back pain
80% of the population will report having low back pain at some point in their life. Recent research has shown that chiropractic treatment of the low back is highly effective and often superior to conventional medical approaches and in 1996 the Royal College of General Practitioners published a report that recommended manipulation within six weeks of the onset of low back pain.

Chiropractors have long been associated with the treatment of low back pain and this accounts for the majority of our patients. By finding and addressing the root cause of the problem chiropractors have become highly successful in treating spinal conditions.

Neck pain
Whether you woke with neck pain this morning or have been suffering with neck pain for many years chiropractic can often help. Chiropractic techniques are ideally suited to the treatment of neck pain through the use of adjustments, manipulation, muscle stretching and soft tissue work.

A substantial number of us spend a significant proportion of our time sitting and working in front of the computer. This often leads to postural problems giving rise to muscle tension and increased pressure on the joints of the neck and shoulders. In more chronic cases this can lead to 'referred' pain causing numbness and tingling into the arms and hands.

Occasionally neck pain will arise from a traumatic injury such as a fall or the sudden acceleration and deceleration experienced in motor vehicle accidents. In such cases neck pain can sometimes still be felt many months after the accident.

So whether you've suffered with neck pain for many years or just a few days make an appointment today.

Shoulder pain
At Aligned For Life we employ a range of techniques designed to help treat the shoulder.

The shoulder is the most mobile joint in the body but this mobility is achieved by sacrificing stability, which is where many of the problems arise from. The shoulder girdle consists of four joints and is therefore relatively complex compared with others in the body. Consequently there are a multitude of injuries that patients often present with. Listed below are some of the conditions that we routinely treat:
  • Frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis)
  • Impingement syndrome
  • Glenohumeral instability
  • Cervicobrachial traction syndrome
  • Cervical radiculopathy
  • Tendinitis/tendinosis
  • Bursitis
  • Rotator cuff strains
  • Acromioclavicular sprains

Wrist & hand pain
The wrist and hand contains 27 small bones and many ligaments, muscles and nerves. Consequently there are a variety of different problems patients can have. Chiropractors have an in-depth knowledge of the wrist and hand; listed below are some of the problems that we treat:
  • Radicular pain from spinal nerve root impingement from the neck
  • Carpel tunnel syndrome
  • Ligament sprains
  • Tendinosis
  • De Quervain's (stenosing tenosynovitis)
