CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY

CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a light-touch approach that can create dramatic improvements in your life. It releases tensions deep in the body to relieve pain and dysfunction and improve whole-body health and performance.

Few body structures have more influence over your health and well being than your central nervous system. And few body systems have more impact on your central nervous system than the craniosacral system - the soft tissues and fluid that protect your brain and spinal cord.

Unfortunately this can compromise the function of the central nervous system - and the performance of nearly every other system in your body, especially the endocrine system.

CST releases those tensions to allow the entire body to relax and self-correct. Using a gentle touch - starting with about the weight of a small coin - practitioners evaluate your internal environment. Then they use distinctive light-touch techniques to release any restrictions they find.

By freeing the central nervous system to perform at its best, CST naturally eliminates pain and stress, strengthens your resistance to disease, and enhances your health and well-being.

And because it is so gentle, CST can be effective for all ages, from newborns to elders.

REMEDIAL MASSAGE

Remedial Massage is a manipulative technique used where the soft tissues, muscles and ligaments have been overworked, pulled or strained causing discomfort and pain. It is a hands-on technique that works deeper than regular massage to access the root of the problem and promote healing.

Massage increases blood and lymph flow thereby helping to reducing inflammation in the affected area. It reduces stress and tension in the muscle giving an overall sense of relief and increases muscle tone by helping the muscle groups to work more synergistically.

In my practice I use remedial massage where there is obvious injury to connective tissue (muscle, ligament, tendon), due to a sports injury, accident or long term postural anomaly. I often find that by working with the muscle directly, using massage and then using craniosacral therapy, when I come back to the affected area, the tissues have softened and lengthened and immediately feel more comfortable. The two therapeutic approaches work very well together and compliment one another to the benefit of the patient.

Please feel free to call me if you have any questions about how massage works and whether it would help your complaint.

SACROWEDGY

The SacroWedgy ® has been in use for almost 15 years in the United States. It has helped thousands get relief from a variety of symptoms such as sciatica, low back pain, hip pain, knee pain and more.

Using the SacroWedgy ® on a regular basis helps the muscles slowly rebalance using gravity to do most of the work. It can be used in the comfort of your own home at the first sign of a twinge or slightest pain. It can be used everyday as part of maintenance or occasionally, according to individual needs. It is a simple but effective device that works by isolating, cradling and elevating only the sacrum. With the sacrum elevated, gravity helps the hips drop and relaxes the piriformis muscle and the sciatic nerve. The neck is supported using a rolled up towel or neck support in order to stabilize the curve while relaxing on the SacroWedgy ®.

The Sacro Wedgy ® is not a tool to be used once or twice after purchase. This system is not a “quick fix” but is one of many tools you will use to battle pain. Results vary as much as people and symptoms vary. Some will even feel pain in the beginning stages. Often this depends on how long a muscle or imbalance or dysfunction has persisted and how easily relaxation occurs. Some find proper placement awkward in the beginning while others just “melt”. Any time balance is being re-created beginning stages may not be painless. A comparison could be that of putting braces on your teeth and keeping long-term goals in mind. However, most people relax on SacroWedgy ® and comment that the hurt is “good”!

In my practice, I often use the SacroWedgy ® to stabilise the sacrum while working on the head or upper body.

Both male and female versions of the SacroWedgy ® are available at £25 each plus p&p. Please contact me to arrange payment and delivery.
