About Us
Founder of The Alternative Healthcare - Melissa Toleman
For the past 12 years Melissa’s passion has been natural therapies to improve health and working with energy, though passion is nothing without belief! Two years ago her belief was put to the test!
Her 9 year old son was diagnosed with a long term deteriorating disease called Polyarticular Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis. According to his doctors the outlook was bleak. Within 3 months he had 27 swollen and painful joints affected with arthritis, he was completely disabled some days unable to get out of bed and was consuming an obscene amount of medication with no prospects of getting better.
It was then that Melissa tried an alternative route, understanding that if the body managed to get itself into this situation it stands to reason that it can get itself out of it. The key was finding out how. She took him to an Ayurvedic hospital in India and this was where things began to turn around. Within 4 months of that journey Louie became 100% well, he has never had a symptom to this day as now he understands his body as he has been educated on what his body needs to stay arthritis free.
That was 2 and a half years ago and after everything Melissa has learnt about Ayurveda since then she is now confident this is a way that can help a multitude of different illnesses and thus henceforth The Alternative Healthcare was created. The centre incorporates everything that helped her son get better including diet, treatments, yoga, meditation and a variety of other natural therapies.
There are no set rules for healing the body as every body and disease is different and caused by different variations and factors so incorporating many different options, gives each person a greater chance of healing. This is what The Alternative Healthcare strives to achieve.
