I qualified as a Bowen Therapist in 2002.. I am also a qualified Emmett Technique practitioner. I have been an aromatherapist for over 28 years.
About the Bowen Technique
The Bowen Technique is a gentle and relaxing hands on treatment, which is suitable for adults and chidren, including babies and the elderly. There is no manipulation or deep tissue massage involved. Thumbs or fingers are used to make a rolling movement over muscle and soft tissue, interspersed with short periods of rest which allows the body to respond to the gentle moves. Most of the work can be performed through light clothing or directly on the skin (on the face, for example).
A basic course of Bowen is three treatments at weekly intervals, although further treatments may be required. Bowen aims to balance the whole body - it can also be used as a form of stress management, and health maintenance. You're not going to stop doing what you normally do - you put your car in for a service on a regular basis, do the same for your body!
