    What is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) incorporates techniques such as meditation, gentle yoga and mind-body exercises to help people cope with stress. It helps them become more aware of their thoughts and feelings so that instead of being overwhelmed by them, they are better able to manage them. People who take a course in MBSR say that they feel more engaged in their work, more energised and less anxious. They sleep better and have fewer physical symptoms of stress.

The MBSR course takes place over eight weeks, with group sessions lasting around two hours, and involves daily home practices alongside the weekly sessions. The course teaches you techniques that can then be practised anywhere, any time, to fit into your lifestyle.

Karen Atkinson and Dr Maya Spencer run 2 seasonal courses for people suffering with chronic conditions of stress, pain and illness. 1:1 courses can also be arranged. Please contact us to find out when our next courses start.
