What is hypnotherapy?
Unlike the stage show version of hypnosis, hypnotherapy uses a perfectly natural altered state of consciousness. Hypnosis is a form of ‘tuning out’ from the everyday world, just like when you get ‘lost’ in a book or TV programme. Once you have reached a good level of hypnosis the subconscious mind can be accessed so you can change your beliefs and attitudes to anything you wish.
How does it work?
During a hypnotherapy treatment you are helped to relax by focusing on something pleasant, calming music and guided visualisation. By choosing words carefully I can ‘take you’ to a favourite place, a beach, a mountain etc. When you focus on your imagination you naturally relax and this quietens down your busy conscious mind. When this has been achieved I can make suggestions to your subconscious mind to change a habit or belief. The way we react to the world is controlled by the way we think about ourselves and others. If you really want to change, hypnotherapy can alter the way you think and behave. Our subconscious mind is very powerful, it keeps us alive when we’re asleep, and its job is to protect us. Even if you are in a deep state of hypnosis, your subconscious can reject anything that you would not agree with when fully awake. So I take a lot of time and care to make sure I understand your individual needs and use the right words which will work for you. The best thing about hypnotherapy is that the changes are permanent, so you can remain a non-smoker or a healthy eater.
How can it help you?
The sky is almost the limit but again it is a therapy that complements medical and other care not replaces it. The most common reasons for treatment are to stop smoking, lose weight or stop nail-biting. It can help you with gambling and other addiction. Hypnotherapy can free you from the restrictions caused by anxiety, panic attacks, phobias and stress. It can help you move forward in your life releasing the hold your past has on you. It can help to increase your confidence and self esteem to enable you to take an exam, apply for a new job or go out to find a new partner. And many more…
What is a treatment like?
The treatment starts with a thorough assessment where I encourage you to tell me as much about yourself and your problem, as possible, in complete confidence. You will be seated in my very comfortable reclining chair and I will put on some calming music and talk you through a relaxation, helping your imagination to ‘take you’ to a quiet appealing place. When I am satisfied that you are at a good level of hypnosis, I will talk through the suggestions for change that we have agreed on. Then I gently bring you back to full consciousness and give you a drink. Most treatment programmes involve three or more sessions so adjustments can be made to meet your individual needs and ensure effectiveness. Most clients feel some immediate changes to their thoughts, such as a new desire to exercise or eat healthy foods, if the treatment is for weight loss. Just the experience of the individual sessions is deeply relaxing in itself.
Experience the most wonderful relaxation and peace.
MY Favourite REVIEW OF HYPNOSIS FOR BIRTH 2012;
By mid-night, Lola walked into our bedroom, snuggled in with me. I felt the warm-ups had stopped me going to sleep( I still thought they were warm-ups, because they didn't hurt.) I got up, ran myself a hot bath. I was in the bath watching a Chinese version of Take me out on IPad. I didn't bother to check the time as the program was very good and I thought the waves weren't that bad, therefore I must have ages to give birth. Suddenly my membrane released, I got out of the bath, sat on the toilet, thinking it was time to go to hospital.
I woke up Matt, asked him to time my waves. It was 2am. My waves became very frequent and intense. I told Matt to ring Midwife Led Unit to see if they wanted to take me in. Matt couldn't find the number which he saved on his phone. I told him to get out my notes in the Kitchen. While he was on the phone, I started to get dressed. I approached the big wardrobe to get a dress out. at that point, I felt very strong intense waves, and the urge to push!
I started shouting:" Matt! It's too late! I'm giving birth! Get the midwife in!" Sadly, he couldn't hear me, still carried on talking on the phone. My mum started shouting his name as well. ( At this point, both my mum and dad were up, Lola must have waken up as well.) I immediately adopted the all fours position on our bedroom floor, right in front of the big wardrobe. I carried on shouting...Lola was sitting on our bed, saying: "Mama feel better, Mama feel better." Matt came upstairs with a midwife on the phone. Matt comforted me, encouraged me to breathe, I suddenly remembered it was time for the big J breathing. Matt was very calmly reminding me: "Breath in 4, breath out 8." I had no energy to correct him, just carried on with my J breathing.
The midwife asked Matt to check whether the baby was crowning. I felt it and said no. Someone brought some towels on the floor, I climbed on, and asked my mum to bring me some olive oil because I was worried about a bad tear, and the brand new almond oil was already packed up, to difficult to locate it. My mum asked me where the olive oil was in a panic. I felt no strength to explain. " I know where it is! it's in the kitchen!" cried Matt. I rubbed some oliver oil on my perineum, breathed again, baby' s head was out! At that moment, there was no ambulance yet. Midwife was still on the phone. She instructed Matt to get a towel, ready to catch the baby. Matt was holding the towel behind my legs, couldn't see any clearer view of my business side!
Someone arrived! Matt was very pleased. I heard a man's voice, surprised that male midwives actually existed! It turned out that he was a paramedic from West Norwich hospital, never delivered a baby before. The proper ambulance was on the way, and there wasn't any midwife available apart from the one on the phone. I carried on breathing, baby came out a bit more. I could see her little arms dangling around between my legs. I breathed again, baby was out! Matt said with joy:" You've done it!" I felt a big big relief. The second ambulance arrived a few minutes later. I delivered my placenta within around 20 minutes. Again, no one had the experience. I was asked whether I felt the placenta was out in full, I just couldn't feel it. The cord clip was once clipped on my loose tummy. We were instructed not to cut the cord. Matt and I held Naomi with placenta went to the hospital for check up. By 8am on Sunday, we left hospital with our little bundle of joy!
It had been such a unique wonderful exciting birth. I only had a degree 1 tear, didn't need stitches. I'm recovering really nicely this time, thanks for my parents and Matt as well. Naomi is a very calm baby, sleeps and eats very well. I only need to feed her once during the night. Lola is very sweet and protective of Naomi already. Matt and I both feel that without your support things would definitely have gone so smoothly, we both feel so lucky that we found you and had hypno training. Otherwise, we would have been panicking like hell, and things could have gone very wrong. I would recommend anyone to have hypno birthing now.

What is Reiki?
Reiki is a form of Japanese ‘hands-on-healing’ which can only be given by a healer who has been attuned to channel the Reiki energy. Reiki is not magical or linked to a formal religion, yet it can be very spiritual.
How does it work?
Reiki healing clears the flow of natural energy in our body, the same energy system treated with Acupuncture. The clearing of any blocks to our energy can prevent disease and significantly reduce many distressing symptoms of active disease. It balances the mind and body, leading to the most wonderful relaxation and peace. Reiki treatment does not involve any intimate contact, massage or movement of joints, so is safe for anyone no matter what their health or disability. It is safe for children, pregnant women and those on any medication.
How can it help you?
Reiki can help with any condition you can name but it does not cure, it complements medical and other care. It helps to boost the immune system making you stronger to fight off viruses and other infections. It helps to rebalance hormones and can reduce pain, such as chronic headaches. It helps to reduce stress and anxiety, making life a bit more manageable. And many more..
What is a treatment like?
I have a tranquil professional treatment room with a comfortable massage table. After answering a few questions to make an assessment of your needs you just lie down, fully clothed. You close your eyes when ready and listening to some peaceful music, you drift off. I gently place my hands on various areas of your body and channel the Reiki through my hands. All clients relax after a few minutes, some sleep. Clients tell me they can feel a comforting heat radiating from my hands and some feel a soothing tingling sensation. At the end of the treatment you are slowly roused and given a refreshing glass of water. When you go home many people feel very tired and relaxed which leads to a good nights sleep. It is best to have three weekly sessions to start with to ensure you get the optimum benefit. For chronic problems you can continue to have ‘top up’ sessions once a fortnight or month.
**I AM A REIKI MASTER**, so I can attune you to Reiki so it can become a part of your everyday life.
Reiki 1 is all about self-healing and truly changes your life.
Reiki 2 is about healing others and enables you to begin to use reiki to earn money or other exchange.

"I went to see Helen after being recommended her treatments by a friend. I've had chronic pain on and off for over 15 years and wanted to explore other ways of managing this (I'm not keen on painkillers). Reiki is something I'd heard about and was aware of for years, but never tried before. It seemed an ideal time to give it a go, and further my own spiritual development. I found Helen's treatments beneficial - I was taking time out for myself for once, it took my mind away from any pain I may have been experiencing, and it allowed me to relax completely. After a few sessions, I discussed the idea of undertaking Reiki I with Helen to see if it was right for me - and I took the decision to be attuned at the start of 2013. I found practising Reiki regularly on myself really good. Every day I was taking a little bit of time out to concentrate on me and was generally a lot calmer and relaxed about things - with time away from my pain. The benefits were particularly noticeable on the day I went into hospital recently for an operation - I was not at all worried by what was going on when normally it would have terrified me. It's really helped in my recovery too and I'm glad I took the step of Reiki I.
Helen makes you feel comfortable and relaxed in her company straight away, and always takes time out to explain things and answer any questions. I'm glad I undertook this particular life journey with her!"

A bit about me
From the age of 18 I wanted a career helping people, so I naturally turned to the NHS. I have worked as a nurse, midwife and health visitor over a period of 24yrs. I gained a great deal of satisfaction helping adults and children through difficult times; I have met all sorts of people from many countries, lifestyles and circumstances. My career gave me a deep understanding of how to support others to help themselves.
I became aware of Reiki healing in 1994 through a friend at work. It has helped me through physical illnesses as well as bereavement and other loss. I now find offering this gentle healing to others deeply rewarding.
I discovered hypnotherapy more recently when I was facing major surgery and knew it was wise to stop smoking first. I had tried will-power and nicotine patches but had failed every time. The hypnotherapy treatment was so successful; I experienced no actual cravings at all and have remained a non-smoker. I was so curious about the treatment, how simple it appeared and how successful, that I decided to undertake the diploma. I found I have a natural ability to create individual treatments using my intuition to choose every word carefully. My clients tell me I have a gentle soothing voice, which I may have developed from reading many bedtime stories to help my children fall asleep.
Massage is my latest addition and is proving popular. The treatment is a constant smooth flow of movements which I find quite hypnotic. Giving massage seems such an instinctive thing to do, it is natural to use touch to sooth and comfort. I remember when I was a nurse, holding a patient's hand at the right time, was very much valued.
Benefits of coming to me
- I can offer flexible apt times to fit around your family and/or your work
- My premises are easy to get to, being near to the UEA
- I have free off road parking
FREE 30mins consultation, so you can meet me before you comitt to any treatment.
I charge a fixed and reasonable rate per session NOT per hour(except for massage), so there is no clock watching. I can concentrate on solving your problems not how much I can charge you.
