About Kathy Jaloussis

Whether it is for a specific issue, you just feel the need to talk, or it is something that has been ongoing, Counselling offers you the support and space you may need.

Kathy provides short term, time-limited and long term therapy to children, young people and adults in a safe, nurturing and non-judgemental space where together you can explore the difficulties you are currently experiencing. As a Counsellor, she will help you find understanding and ideally you will be more aware of what is going on in your internal world and life.

Kathy is an Integrative and Psychodynamic Counsellor based in Twickenham, South West London. She completed a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology in 2002 and enhanced her training and experience in this field with an Advanced Diploma in Humanistic Integrative Counselling Therapy as well as Specialist Training in Counselling Children.

She is an Accredited Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and abides by its ethics and code of practice. Kathy is on the Professional Standards Authority Accredited Register for Counsellors and Psychotherapists registered with BACP.

Prior to becoming a Counsellor, Kathy has worked in Social Work with Children, Young People, Couples and Families over 13 years and therefore she has an intuitive approach to the needs of children, young people, couples and individuals.

The support of friends and family can be comforting, however talking to a trained professional means you can explore things on a deeper level to help you understand why we do the things we do and feel the way we feel. With this, there is an opportunity and choice of change.

Kathy works with Children, Young People and Adults and has worked in primary schools and secondary schools, Kings College Hospital Psychotherapy Department and West London Centre for Counselling. Kathy has a wide range of experience working with issues within these age groups.

As a Counsellor in Twickenham, South West London, Kathy has worked with a diverse group of clients including South American, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian, Moroccan, Afghanistani, Indian, Irish, New Zealand, Canadian, English and various Black, mixed and Asian cultures.

Services

Individual Counselling & Psychotherapy
You may have an ongoing issue from anxiety, low self-esteem, abuse, trauma or low mood or you may be in particular circumstances such as work related stress, relationship issues or bullying where you feel you need some support and therapeutic input. This is something that can be discussed with Kathy in the first session which is usually called the assessment session, when you talk to Kathy about what is going on for you.

Counselling for Children and Young People
Children and Young People go through many feelings and emotions about different things that they experience in their lives whether it is bereavement, sibling rivalry, low self-esteem, confidence or family issues to name a few. They have different ways of expressing themselves and communicating and this is not always through talking. Kathy works with children and young people through talking therapy, metaphor and play where they will have the opportunity to process their feelings without the pressure of having to talk if they do not wish to. The first session would be conducted with just the parent depending on the age of the child or young person, to get an understanding of the child/young person's issues. Children under the age of 18 years will require parental consent.

Kathy holds a current Disclosure and Barring Service Enhanced Certificate (DBS) originally called a Criminal Record Bureau Enhanced Certificate (CRB) which confirms she has no criminal convictions and can work with children and young people and she holds full professional indemnity insurance.

A 50 minute therapy session is generally conducted on a weekly basis from Kathy's private practice in Twickenham TW2. There are limited spaces at a reduced rate following confirmation of circumstances.

The duration of the first session which is referred to as the assessment session is 50 minutes where Kathy will gain a better understanding of what is going on for you and what has brought you to counselling. You will have an opportunity to ask any questions and discuss how Kathy works and whether you feel you can work together.

Kathy is available to have an initial conversation about Counselling if you have questions or are not sure if you wish to take the next step.
