My mission statement: to provide a caring, professional service of Holistic Therapies to enhance the health and well-being of my clients.
My name is Sandy Cowley and I work as a Complementary Therapist. I am married to Neil and we live in Hullbridge in Essex.
I started my training to become a Complementary Therapist in June 2000, shortly after Neil and I were married. I studied at Anglia Polytechnic University in Chelmsford and qualified as a Massage Therapist in December 2000 and a Reflexologist in December 2001.
During this time, my youngest daughter became pregnant which triggered my interest in learning how to massage her at this very important time.
I attended a training course in London with the Institute of Traditional Herbal Medicine & Aromatherapy to learn Therapeutic Massage in Pregnancy and Labour. The techniques I learnt really helped my daughter throughout her pregnancy and during her labour. Following the birth of my granddaughter, I trained as a Certified Infant Massage Instructor (CIMI), with the International Association of Infant Massage.
In 2002, I trained with Judith Koch from the USA to work as a Massage Doula, enabling me to use massage techniques, as well as other comfort measures, whilst supporting parents-to-be during labour and birth.
In addition to being a qualified Reflexology Practitioner, I completed a 5 month course in November 2004, with Susanne Enzer to practise Maternity Reflexology. I am therefore able to work with mothers-to-be from pre-conception until after the baby is born.
I do however still treat many clients who are not pregnant, but enjoy the benefits of either Therapeutic Massage or Reflexology.
In July 2009, I trained to practice Hot Stone Massage, so am now able to offer this as an additional therapy for my non-pregnant clients.
I am committed to furthering my knowledge and skills and regularly attend meetings and study days to keep myself up-to-date.
I always endeavour to treat each client as an individual, respect and protect client confidentiality and be honest and open regarding the limitations of the therapies practised.
Therapeutic Massage is the systematic manipulation of the soft tissues of the body to enhance well-being and promote a sense of relaxation.
Therapeutic Massage may help to improve sleep patterns. It may also be very relaxing and may help to reduce stress and anxiety, leaving you with a general feeling of well-being.
This type of massage has been practised in Eastern cultures since ancient times. Greek, Roman and Egyptian physicians acknowledged the many benefits of 'rubbing' to relieve pain.
for a 30 minute Back Massage ~ £15
for a 75 minute Full Body Massage ~ £30
Maternity Reflexology has evolved from reflexology – a natural therapy with ancient origins, which may help support women during the immense physical, emotional and hormonal changes of pregnancy and childbirth.
As with reflexology, Maternity Reflexology follows the belief that reflex points on the feet correspond to all organs, structures and functions in the human body.
Maternity Reflexology may be very relaxing to mind, body and spirit and may help a woman to attain and maintain well-being at this very important time.
Maternity Reflexologists use specific techniques which may help to keep the body in balance:
- From preconception
- Through the 9 months of pregnancy
- Throughout labour and birth
- During the postnatal period
Price example: for a 1 hour reflexology treatment ~ £25
