Welcome to Quintessential Touch

My name is Kevin and I run a mobile service from the Denby Dale area of Huddersfield providing the finest quality holistic therapy treatments in the comfort of your own home.

Following a long-held interest in the therapeutic benefits of the various forms of massage I began formal study of holistic therapies in 2001 at what is now Kirklees College, gaining qualifications in Body Massage, Aromatherapy and Indian Head Massage.

I believe massage is important for improving and maintaining our overall general health and well-being, and as such it ought to be an integral part of our culture. This is not beauty therapy and it is not a sexual service. This is massage therapy and very good for you.

I have been a member of the Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT) since 2002.

I am insured through the FHT Insurance Service.

Swedish Body Massage

Swedish Massage techniques developed and evolved from the work of Swedish physiologist Per Henrik Ling (1776-1839) and Dutch physician Dr Johann Mezgner (1839-1909).

The Effects and Benefits Of Having a Swedish Body Massage

Massage is the manipulation of body tissues and has both physiological and psychological effects.

Amongst the physiological effects of massage are improved circulation, increasing blood supply to bones, joints, muscle tissue, and the skin. Adhesions (or knots) in the muscles are broken down, improving the flow of blood bringing fresh nutrients and helping to flush out waste products, thereby revitalising the muscle tissue.
Massage also stimulates the digestive system, and depending on the type of massage movements used, will either soothe or stimulate the nervous system.

The psychological effects of massage are a reduction in overall stress bringing relaxation and a sense of well-being and health. Vigour and energy are improved as well as an increased awareness of posture.

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy uses essential oils to promote balance and harmony within mind and body, and more particularly makes use of a blend of essentials oils specially chosen for your specific condition and requirements. A few drops of the selected essentials oils are blended into a carrier oil, such as grapeseed, sweet almond or apricot kernal, and this blend is then used as a massage medium.

The most immediate effect of the use of essential oils that you will notice as the blend is being prepared will be on your sense of smell. Firstly, the aroma triggers a part of the brain resulting in an emotional response. Then the receptors in your nasal membrane will carry oils with their therapeutic properties into your bloodstream.

The therapeutic effects of the oils are then further enhanced by the use of body massage techniques which will increase the flow of blood throughout your body and greatly enable the essential oils to be transported to all areas, leading to and ensuring a truly holistic treatment. So all the usual benefits of body massage apply along with the many additional therapeutic qualities of the various essential oils.

The full body aromatherapy treatment that I provide includes treatment of face and scalp.

Indian Head Massage

Although Indian Head Massage only involves manipulations to the head, neck, shoulders, upper back and upper arms, its effects and potential benefits are widespread and truly 'holistic' being both physiological and psychological.

The Indian Head Massage treatment that I provide also includes Chakra balancing.

The Benefits of Having an Indian Head Massage

Your Indian Head Massage treatment will:

* Improve blood circulation to head, neck and shoulders bringing fresh oxygen and nutrients to the brain thereby improving the functioning and responses of the whole body.
* Improve the condition of muscle tissue in local areas by breaking down fibrous adhesions (knots) bringing relief from tension and fatigue and improved muscle and joint mobility.
* Improve lymphatic circulation to head, neck and shoulders and help in the removal and dispersal of waste products and toxins.
* Increase the supply of oxygen to muscles.
* Decrease inflammation of tissues.
* Promote hair growth and improve condition of scalp as circulation is increased.
* Create a sense of calmness and tranquility as emotional stress and anxiety is relieved.
* Improve concentration and alertness as it relieves mental tiredness and depression.
* Balance the body's energy.
* Release stagnant energy and restore energy flow.
* Be stimulating or relaxing according to your needs.
* Promote an 'holistic' improvement to your health.
