WHICH COMPLEMENTARY THERAPY SHOULD I CHOOSE?

I offer a FREE 10 minute phone consultation to discuss your needs based on your current health and other considerations. The most appropriate therapy programme or combination of therapies programme will then be recommended. Call me NOW 01225 333085 so we can discuss what is concerning you and decide on the best approach to your treatment.

Complementary therapies offer you a natural way to aid relaxation, improve mood, enhance peaceful sleep, alleviate the symptoms of tension, anxiety and stress, feel more energetic and promote a sense of better well-being. They may also help you to achieve and maintain better eating habits. Massage, in particular, may help to ease lower back pain.

After-care advice is an integral part of complementary therapy and often includes nutritional advice, specific exercises, relaxation and stress reduction techniques, recognising environmental factors, recommended effective products, advice on lifestyle changes such as to improve sleep, and other relevant personalised, detailed advice for you to implement between treatments and on an ongoing basis.

CURRENT FEATURED THERAPIES

Reflexology

Reflexology is a complementary therapy based on the belief that there are reflex areas in the feet and hands which are believed to correspond to all organs and parts of the body. Points found on the face and ears may also be worked and included in the session. Reflexology works on an individual basis and may alleviate and improve symptoms such as everyday stress and tension. After taking a detailed medical history your feet, or hands, will be immersed in a bowl of warm water and soaked for 10 minutes or so. Bathing salts may be added to the water as appropriate. Sessions are usually performed whilst you lie on a comfortable heated couch or sit in a specialist chair. After making a visual and tactile examination of the area to be worked, the feet, or hands, will then be worked using precise reflexology massage movements - the types of movements involved require the application of an appropriate pressure using the thumb and fingers. Reflexology can be a wonderfully relaxing experience where you can take time out from everyday pressures. My expert touch will help you relax which can help improve mood, aid sleep and relieve tension. The result is an overall sense of wellbeing.

Seated Acupressure Massage

Seated Acupressure Massage is THE MASSAGE specifically designed for people who are suffering with tight neck and shoulders due to sitting at a desk, working on computers, or driving a lot. It is the essential body maintenance massage for desk workers. This very effective clothed massage is a great stress-busting treatment helping to relieve your aching, stiff and painful, upper back, neck and shoulders. The treatment is revitalising, stimulating and helps balance the flow of energy in the body. The massage can be received at your place of work or my treatment room in Bath and is very popular at events of all kinds.

Glacial Shell Detox Massage

Glacial Shell Detox Massage is a treatment of the legs, lower back and abdomen. Using ice therapy (cryotherapy) the treatment targets two problem areas: the stomach and the legs, tackling congestion in areas such as the small and large intestine, and stimulating the lymphatic system to encourage the body’s own natural purification. This invigorating treatment, which also incorporates dry skin brushing, aids the elimination of toxins, whilst the therapeutic contrast of hot Lava Shells and cold Glacial Shells acts as a pump to the system helping promote wellness and balance.

Surge of Chi - now called FlexxiCore

Surge of Chi - now called FlexxiCore
Research has shown that the high incidence of back pain amongst the general population can be largely attributed to a chronic inability to relax, physically and/or mentally; while a rocking motion is known to help synchronize brain waves and calm the nervous system.

The Surge of Chi provides a form of passive exercise that stimulates the nervous system, mobilises the back, releases tension and encourages postural realignment. The rhythmic, gentle wave-like motion of sideways movement travels though the body, gently mobilising the back and releasing tension and stress while simultaneously stimulating and balancing the body’s healing and energy systems.

The exercise is passive because the user is lying down, allowing muscles to relax with minimal resistance and with their ankles on a footrest which swings from side to side, not expending any energy. All that is required is for the user to ‘let go’ mentally to the rhythmic sideways motion. The body responds naturally to the movement of the feet and the exercise is all gain as it is free from stress. This relaxing type of exercise actually increases the respiration rate, giving you consistently deeper breathing pattern as your body responds to the exerciser’s movement.

Built with precisely adjustable speeds, the Surge of Chi is suitable for users of all ages and fitness levels.

Surge of Chi sessions are available as an add on to another treatment, or as stand alone sessions. The Surge of Chi Passive Exerciser is also available to purchase.

TESTIMONIALS

I have been having treatments with Karen for over a year and have always found her to be incredibly caring and skilled. Karen takes the time to really listen and is very good at giving advice on the best type of treatment. She is unhurried and very calm and always makes me feel relaxed and cared for. Karen also uses the best products and is up to date with the latest treatments. I always really look forward to seeing, knowing that I will be leaving her relaxed and ready for a great night's sleep! I have experienced most of her treatments and have loved every single one. I would not hesitate recommending her to anyone needing some relaxing time being pampered and in a safe and comfortable environment.
BE Bath

Just wanted to let you know that I've been doing loads of gardening along with your exercises and my back is in marvelous shape. No problems at all. Thank you so much for all the work and healing you have put in. To have helped me out so much is a wonderful thing. Also...... the face mask sample you gave me is great so I'll get some from you when I next see you. Many thanks again.
LH Bath

Hi Karen, thank you for the lovely treatment. I felt treasured and supported and buzzed out all evening long! Great treatment. Fabulous time and hope to see you again in a few weeks. Bless you and thanks. I love all your bits and pieces too. [Client is referring to surge of chi, cranio-cradle and cold stones.]

I was a bit wary but very interested in receiving a Thai Foot Massage from Karen as I had never experienced this type of massage before. I was extremely impressed by Karen's professionalism, expertise in her craft and lovely warm manner. I also enjoyed this powerful treatment so much that I asked her where I could train to do this. As a complementary health professional myself I would thoroughly recommend Karen to anyone.
CM Burnham-On-Sea

I have been coming to Karen for several months, enjoying both reflexology and massage treatments. Karen understands my needs and really takes her time to determine the best course of action to help with my issues, which are largely based around stress and tension. Karen provides a holistic approach and considers not just my physical wellbeing but mental also. At every stage of the treatment; from our chat at the beginning to her aftercare advice, I feel comfortable and confident in Karen's abilities to help me feel healthier and happier. I see Karen weekly and if I ever miss a session I see a difference in my wellbeing. I often describe Karen as my 'reset button' as she makes me slow down for a couple of hours, take stock and move forward with my week in a more sensible, health conscious manner. I've been to several therapists over the years but none as good as Karen. I would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking for ways to improve their wellbeing or as a pampering treat with real benefits. Thanks Karen!
HE Bath

Felt super-relaxed and chilled afterwards. Karen is very skilled and creates a lovely atmosphere. I loved the product she used on my face. [Neals Yard Beauty Sleep Concentrate] My skin felt soft and dewy for ages.
