Food is a key tool in aiding your natural support system and supplies your body with the essential nutrients it needs to function efficiently. I identify any nutritional imbalances and explain how they may be contributing to your health concerns and symptoms and with this information, assist you in your goal to become as healthy as possible through achievable nutrition and lifestyle changes.

What is Nutritional Therapy?

Nutritional Therapy is the science of nutrition and helps you achieve your optimum health and peak performance. Nutritional therapy practitioners assess and identify potential nutritional imbalances which may contribute to your symptoms and health concerns and guide you to support your body towards maintaining health.

Nutritional therapy is recognised as a complementary medicine and is suitable for all ages with health issues as well as supporting you to enhance your health and wellbeing.

Key to my approach is building client relationships and understanding that you are unique. Taking into consideration your personal needs and concerns, a unique and personalized nutrition and lifestyle programme is tailor made with you and for you.

What a nutritional therapy session typically involves?

You are asked to complete and submit a nutrition and lifestyle questionnaire prior to your initial consultation. The initial consultation lasts 60 minutes where we look at your completed questionnaire and I will explain what I think may be contributing to your health concerns. Together we develop a personalised, safe and effective nutrition and lifestyle programme tailor made for you.

Diagnostic tests may be recommended to help discover the underlying causes of your symptoms for instance: digestion analysis, hormone levels (female, thyroid, stress), food allergies/intolerances.

In order to monitor progress and make any necessary adjustments, a follow up consultation may be recommended 4-6 weeks after the initial consultation. Further follow-ups may be required depending on your individual situation.

About Jo

I have always had an interest in biology but after having cancer I wanted to understand how the mind and body worked together, so I attended the University of the West of England reading Psychology with Health Science. This led to a passionate interest in living healthily through the food that we eat and so I expanded my knowledge further by studying a diploma in Nutritional Therapy.

Having the ability and skills to help others become as healthy as they can, given their personal health concerns and lifestyle is the passion and basis on which I build my career and I enjoy working closely with my clients. I frequently attend seminars, exhibitions and presentations to learn more and develop my already extensive skills.

In my spare time, I work voluntarily for Cancer Research UK Relay for Life and support my local GP’s Patient Participation Group. To relax I enjoy Yoga and Line Dancing and spending time with my family and friends.
