    Structural Therapies

    Alexander Technique
    Practitioner: William Shephard

When a child picks up a toy, they will bend at the hips, knees and ankles; as adults we tend to fix these joints and bend from the waist. This puts enormous strain on our muscles and joints, whilst our sedentary lives lead to poor activation of postural muscles.

The teacher recognises proven pain-producing behaviour and facilitates coordination, functioning and mobility of joints and lengthening of the spine, thus reducing spasm and pain.

    Chiropractic
    Practitioner: Mark Tucker

Chiropractic is a regulated health profession in the UK, concerned with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system and the effects of these disorders on the function of both the nervous system and general health. There is an emphasis on manual treatments including bone or spinal manipulation or adjustments.

It is can be helpful in treating a wide range of conditions in people of all ages, from birth to old age.

In doing so, it helps relieve stress and its effects, promoting instead feelings of peace and relaxation.

    Cognitive Therapies

    Hypnotherapy
    Practitioner: Diana Powley

Hypnosis is an altered state of consciousness, very similar to day dreaming.

You experience waking hypnosis several times a day, for instance, when your attention is fixed on one thing, to the exclusion of all else, such as driving a car or reading a book.

During hypnosis, a trained practitioner can help you to access your unconscious mind, affect positive changes, control problems and achieve your goals.

Combining this with NLP, (Neuro-Linguistic Programming), shows us how we organise our thinking, feeling, skills and behaviour. It can be used to help you identify and achieve what you want out of life. It can enable you to uncover, change or transform what is holding you back.

NLP can also be used to enable you to make far-reaching positive changes, overcome problems, and enable you to take more control over your thoughts, feelings, actions and your whole life.

    Practitioner: Dr R.Manso

Cognitive Behavioural therapy (CBT) is a psychotherapeutic approach: a talking therapy. CBT aims to solve problems concerning dysfunctional emotions, behaviours and cognitions through a goal-oriented, systematic procedure in the present.

CBT is based on the principle that individuals learn unhelpful ways of thinking and behaving over a long period of time. However, identifying these thoughts and how they can be problematic to feelings and behaviours can enable individuals to challenge negative ways of thinking, leading to positive feelings and behavioural changes.
