SERVICES

Welcome to Addlestone Chiropractic

Chiropractic is a holistic approach to healthcare, as not just the painful area and symptoms are looked at but the whole body is checked and a detailed history is taken to get to the primary cause of the problem and all issues that may affect this are addressed.

Central to chiropractic is the nervous system, which controls all functions in the body. Through the brain, spinal cord and peripheral nerves, the ones going to the joints, muscles and organs as well as the sensory nerves leading back to the brain.

Any interference with the nerves, such as pressure from a disc, inflammation from a joint sprain, altered joint motion or reduced blood flow can lead to a wide range of symptoms including pain, muscle spasm, pins and needles and numbness.

What can be treated?

Some of the most common problems treated at Addlestone Chiropractic are:

  • Low back pain
  • Sciatica
  • Neck pain
  • Headaches
  • Shoulder pain
  • Arthritis
  • Trapped nerves
  • Hip pain

    Other issues addressed include:

  • Stress
  • Posture problems
  • Degeneration
  • Disc problems
  • Heart burn

I deal with problems in any joint, not just those in the spine. I can help with sports injuries as well as repetitive strain injuries and more chronic issues.

By improving joint function and removing interference from the nervous system we can increase vitality and health.

Treatment for these conditions include chiropractic adjustments, trigger point therapy, stretching and strengthening exercises. I can also advise on how to achieve true wellness and give tips on nutrition, exercise and ways on improving your overall quality of life.

    What to Expect

During the first visit a full case history will be taken. Some questions may seem irrelevant but they are important in assessing the overall health picture. The examination will concentrate on the musculoskeletal system but may include other necessary checks, e.g. blood pressure or temperature. If other tests (for example blood tests or urine tests) are deemed necessary you will be referred back to your GP for those. If an underlying condition is found that requires other treatment you will be referred appropriately. Please allow half an hour for the consultation.
If X-rays are needed you will also be referred for those.

Usually the first treatment can be started after the consultation and includes the Report of Findings. This usually also takes half an hour. Follow up treatments then are usually 20 to 25 minutes.

As well as treating the joint dysfunction (subluxations) with adjustments (specific manipulations) I also use soft tissue techniques to address muscles and ligaments directly and will give specific stretches or exercises when indicated. Identifying stresses and aggravating factors can often be key to a speedy recovery.

I also encourage everyone to come to one of my free Health Talks, available to everbody, not just patients.

Treatment is suitable for everyone, from the new born baby to the very old, as each treatment is tailored to the individual.
