What is Herbal Medicine?
Herbal medicine is the use of plants to manage a wide variety of common medical conditions. It has a long tradition of use worldwide and is among the most popular and highly respected of complementary therapies. The efficacy of herbal remedies has been drawn from centuries of popular use and the growing scientific research and clinical trials in herbal medicine are endorsing this traditional knowledge.

Herbalists believe that by using plants in their more natural form, many of the side-effects associated with modern medicine can be avoided.

Herbalists address the causes of ill health through the holistic treatment of the individual. Treatment is focused on the patient rather than just on the disease, considering factors such as diet, lifestyle and emotional well-being along with any physical symptoms.

Can herbal remedies be taken with other medication?
Herbal medicine is usually safe to take with other medicines. By providing full details of your prescription and over-the-counter drugs, herbs are prescribed to work safely with your current medication.

What is herbal medicine used for?
People consult herbalists on a wide range of medical conditions.
If you would like to discuss if herbal medicine could be suitable for you, please feel free to contact Nikki on 07528 341206 for a FREE no obligation discussion.

Herbal medicine is suitable for all ages from children to the elderly and is used by both men and women.

Herbal Consultation

The first consultation takes approximately one hour. Nikki will take a detailed medical history covering not only your current complaint and medications, allergies and family history but also your diet and lifestyle. Your blood pressure and pulse will be checked and sometimes further physical examination may be necessary.

Nikki will then discuss and agree your management plan with you. Following this Nikki will personally formulate a mix of suitable herbs individually tailored to your needs. The medicine may be in the form of a tincture, a tea or an external cream or ointment.
  • A shorter follow up consultation will take place 3-4 weeks later to monitor your progress. This will take approximately 30 minutes. If you need further consultations, additional visits are generally at four or six week intervals.
  • The initial one-hour consultation costs £35 and the thirty-minute follow-up consultations are £28 each.
  • For children (under 16) the initial consultation costs £25 and follow-up consultations are £18 each.
  • Herbal medicines cost £7 per week for a tincture (100ml), £6 for a tea (100g) and £7 for creams/ointments (60g).
  • Payment by cash or cheque on the day please.

Message Therapies

Therapeutic massage works to relieve tension from tight and sore muscles, breaking down muscle knots and assiting the flow of blood and lymph.

Mentally, it can help to relieve stress and anxiety, and helps to prevent the build-up of muscular tension.

Aromatherapy massage is similar and in addition uses a tailor-made blend of essential oils, each with their own unique properties to balance your emotions.

Whether for enjoyment or remedial purposes, massage can be a powerful form of achieving wellbeing: it can release muscular and emotional tension and aims to leave you feeling relaxed, refreshed and restored.

Massages can be booked for 30 minutes or 60 minutes. Nikki will start by doing a consultation with you to find out about your health and wellbeing. This will help decide which oils are most appropriate for you and Nikki will discuss with you which areas you would like the massage to focus on such as the back, neck, shoulders, face, scalp or full body.

We suggest that you don't eat for two hours before the massage and no alcohol should be consumed before or immeditaley after the massage.

How you will feel after the massage depends on the type of massage you have asked for: either relaxing or invigorating. After a massage clients often feel calm, relaxed and mabye even a little sleepy or they can feel emotionally uplifted and revitalised. It is important that you relax after having a massage and drink lots of water.

Price
A 60 minute massage costs £37 and a 30 minute massage costs £21. Evening and weekend appointments are available. Call Nikki on 07528341206 to book a treatment.
