About Me
While I have been in the fitness industry for my whole working life (over 30 years), over the last five years I have been concentrating on understanding how to help people improve their physical condition. Particularly those who are not into sports, or may not be "fit".

All my services are founded on my belief in functional fitness. Regardless of your situation exercise can help. You can be "fit for life, for all of your life".

I work consistently to keep my techniques and knowledge as up to date as possible, in this process I have acquired training and qualifications in a range of techniques and approaches.

In fact I have found that no single one of these methods is sufficient and I usually combine techniques from a number of them in any session or treatment.

My client feedback shows that treatments and classes are enjoyable and effective in meeting their individual goals. Some clients with specific issues have described the results as amazing.

Choose from:
I Move Freely Pilates Classes
Yoga for Back and Joint Health Classes

This forms a complete Physical Therapy service which is easily accessible from Aylsham, Cromer, Roughton, Sheringham, North Walsham, Holt, Wroxham, North Norfolk and Norwich.

Pilates and Yoga Classes

'I Move Freely Pilates'

All classes are tailored to the participants and how they are feeling at the time. I use an informal environment where you are encouraged to input to the session and be interactive with the instructor. This ensures we obtain the best results for each individual within a class environment, and you experience maximum enjoyment from your exercise. Class sizes are 4-6 for the optimum results.

The I Move Freely Pilates is a modern programme I have created specifically for people restricted by tightness and/or pain. I have used the principals of Pilates for core stability, combined them with Bio Mechanic techniques for the release of tight muscles, and finally added exercises designed to combat back pain. This has moved Pilates from its origins and brought it up to date with current research. The addition of bio mechanic and back exercises give the extra benefits of all round core stability, improvement in back health, and better posture.

Have you ever found that pilates aggravated your back or neck? If so, you should find that the bio mechanic element of The Studio pilates works to improve movement and reduce pain in these areas.

Osteopaths, physiotherapists, chiropractors and GPs recommend Pilates as a beneficial form of exercise to augment their treatments. I Move Freely Pilates is one of the safest forms of Pilates for this purpose. In fact a number of the specific exercises I use are prescribed by physiotherapists.

Yoga for Back and Joint Health

I qualified last year as a teacher of 'Yoga for Healthy Lower Backs' a programme which meets the current NICE recommendations for the treatment of back pain. I found that many people with back pain also have joint pain so I developed this combined class to address all the areas needing attention.
This is not a spiritual experience, there is no meditation but a relaxation time is included as recommended by the NICE guidelines.
Extreme postures that exceed the normal range of movement are avoided.

Massage Therapy

Soft Tissue Therapy - Sport Massage

The nature of todays lifestyle gives many people aches and pains which are difficult to relieve. They may be caused by muscle imbalance (frequently seen in back pain) or stress causing muscle tension (often a factor with shoulder pain).
You may suffer an injury, either from a sporting incident or from simply picking something up at the wrong angle.
These aches and pains are all treatable with Soft Tissue Therapy and Sport Massage. I use a variety of techniques and am continually seeking new methods to ensure that a treatment 'makes a tangible difference'
I am Regional Director of the Sport Massage Association for East Anglia, raising awareness of what massage and soft tissue therapy can achieve.

Hot Stone Massage
Stress can cause many problems within the body if left untreated. It is essential that we find a way of dealing with stress to prevent it building up. Hot Stone Massage can be a perfect solution enabling you to unwind. The heat of the stones gives a deeper massage encouraging a completely relaxing experience. Bookings can be in the evenings and weekends so pick the time you'd like to relax and make an appointment.

Indian Head Massage
If you have tension headaches, hold stress in your neck and shoulders or are simply in need of a complete rest try this treatment. It can ease away stress, relax tight muscle and leave you completely relaxed. Most people fall asleep during this treatment and feel rested and relaxed afterwards.

Kinesio Taping
This is a treatment with coloured tape that can be used for several different effects. It can relax tight muscles, give support to injured joints, reduce swelling and encourage lazy muscles to engage. It can be combined with a one to one session in exercise or massage.

Myofascal Release
This treatment encourages the fascia holding our body together to relax and release enabling the underlying muscle and tissue to function correctly. It leads to a less painful release of tight muscles and can be extremely effective where other forms of massage have not helped.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage
Treatment for swelling in the tissues this treatment is gentle yet effective and combines well with Kinesio Taping for longer lasting results.

Physiotherapy Support

Physiotherapy is an extreme important tool in the recovery from injury. However, physiotherapy provision may be limited under the National Health, and expensive to do privately.

I am not physiotherapist, but my specialist knowledge does overlap with that of a physiotherapist and I am able to provide support and help for you to continue the exercises.
In a special 15 minute physio support session I can help you to perform the exercises, prescribed by your physio, correctly for the maximum benefit. I am happy to talk to your physiotherapist about your program to try to ensure the optimum result.

Unsure how to get started?

Getting started is the hardest step to take. If you are committed to making a start towards getting fitter, healthier or addressing an issue causing you pain I am committed to help get you on the right track. An individual consultation is the best way to start. We can look at your background, your lifestyle and the results that you can realistically expect to achieve. Following this I can recommend the best way for you to gain the maximum benefit. If I don't think that I can make a difference I will refer you on to other practitioners.
