Speciality areas include anger management, stress management, moving on from abuse, moving on from offending, bipolar management, depression management, long term depression Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Eating Disorders, Mood disorders, anxiety disorders. Anxiety conditions include phobias, performance anxiety, anxiety disorders and social anxiety. We are a complementary health service and clients must maintain supervision from medical practitioners. Stuart integrates mindfulness, Naikan, Morita and other Eastern psychology methods into his practice. Denise integrates holistic meditative principles into her practice. Other areas of speciality include NEAD (non-epileptic attack disorder) and the psychological effects of Dyslexia (counselling not assessment).

Choice of male or female life coach and therapist, although each practitioner (Stuart or Denise) has different specialities.

Stuart:
Professional Diploma in Analysis (psychodynamic and cognitive behavioural), stress management counselling and clinical hypnotherapy. 1993-6 (CNHC hypnotherapy regulator route and approved training via SSM).
BSc (Hons) IIT specialising in Human Resource Management
MSc Psychology
BA (Hons) Open specialising in Psychology and politics
NVQ level 4 Training & Development in the context of Complementary Health Education Programmes (including C25 coaching unit).
ASET Level 4 Hypnotherapy, Level 3 & 4 Psychotherapy, Level 4 Integrated Therapeutic Counselling, Level 3 Lifeskills coaching, Level 3 Chi Gung, Level 3 NLP, Level 3 Grief & Bereavement therapy, multiple other diplomas including in psychoanalysis and hypnotherapy requiring 2 year practical training and over 200 supervised client cases. 5th Dan Black Belt in combined martial arts, including for health styles.

Continuous professional development post qualification training includes:

Both therapists registered with the Society of Holistic Therapists and Coaches, , the Institute of Professional Psychologists (Stuart: Full, Denise: associate). Both therapists are members of the Solution Focused Therapy subgroup of the SHTC. Both are Fellows of the Royal Scottish Society of Arts. Registered on the CNHC and FHT held Professional Standards Authority Accredited Registers for healthcare professionals not subject to statutory regulation. Fellows of the Society of Stress Managers. Full members of the Federation of Holistic Therapists. Full members of the National Association of Counsellors Hypnotherapists and Psychotherapists. UKCHO registered hypnotherapists. Both therapists are insured to £5million for practice in the UK.

Denise is also a CCC registered Counsellor. Stuart is also a NCP (National Council of Psychotherapists) senior accredited psychotherapist and supervisor. Stuart is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Public Health and a Fellow of the Institute of Health Promotion and Education. He is also an associate fellow (academic membership not qualification) of the Royal Society of Medicine.

Both therapists complete ongoing University modules and training with the Open University. Denise is completing ongoing externally accredited vocational courses. Both therapists complete British Medical Journal Continuous Professional Development modules.

Both therapists are CNHC registered hypnotherapists. The CNHC are the official voluntary regulator for hypnotherapy in the UK. CNHC is an AR. Accredited registers are maintained by the professional standards authority for health care professionals not subject to statutory regulation. Stuart and Denise are also members of the FHT AR scheme. Denise is also registered on the FHT scheme under nutritional advice.

Our fees are on a sliding scale in Edinburgh with a top rate for persons in full time work, a middle rate for persons on top up benefits, in financial hardship or members of concession groups (Armed forces, 3rd Sector, Below GP level of NHS), and lowest rate for people on benefits.

In Stirling and Falkirk and Glasgow we have a 2 tier system of full rate and partial concession. We are unable to offer a lowest rate in these locations because of higher overheads, but if clients can reach the Edinburgh clinic they are welcome to receive the lowest rate if eligible.

Clients with low income and anxiety related conditions may also apply to see Stuart via Anxiety UK who fund certain clients subject to meeting their criteria.
