About Acupuncture

What is Acupuncture.

Acupuncture is an ancient form of medicine originating in the Far East. It unites our physical, spiritual, emotional and psychological components. Its aim is to improve the overall well-being of a person as well as treat isolated complaints.

How Does Acupuncture Work.

Central to Acupuncture is our vital energy known as Qi (pronounced chee). It is the force in our bodies that warms, protects and moves. It is this energy that gives us life. Qi rises to the surface at certain points and it is here that Acupuncture can influence the energy through inserting fine needles. Qi is then regulated to create the desired effect. As a result patients can experience a change in physical symptoms and an overall sense of well- being.

The Philosophy Behind Acupuncture.

According to Traditional Chinese Philosophy our health is reliant on the body's energy moving in a balanced way through channels which lie under the skin. When this energy becomes disrupted it can result in poor health. Emotional upset, physical trauma, poor diet or overwork are all common causes of ill health.

Testimonials

I always look forward to my session with Helen; she listens carefully to my problems and finds the most effective treatment. Helen has a confidently calm manor and explains the different stages of treatment as she goes along which helps me feel more at ease. It leaves me immediately more relaxed and energised which certainly has reduced the tension that develops in my shoulders that arises from the stresses and strains of life.

I would recommend Helen to everyone without hesitation.

My ongoing Continued Professional Development , CPD involves regularly attending courses, meetings and seminars in various aspects of health and Chinese Medicine.
