Depression and Spiritual Healing

The condition of depression is often intimately connected with dysfunctional workings of the soul and spirit. Whilst your doctor can prescribe medications for its symptoms, an experienced healer can spiritually treat the root cause of the depression itself. Please read on for more information.

What is Depression?

Depression, often referred to as clinical depression, is a mental illness that entails an overwhelming sense of sadness, loss and hopelessness. Bouts of the condition may span from weeks to years, and may sometimes cause the sufferer to despair so greatly they no longer want to live.

How Does Spiritual Healing Help Depression?

Recent scientific research has attributed improved symptoms of depression to a phenomenon known as ‘religious coping’, which incorporates a reliance on spiritual or religious beliefs to relieve symptoms of physical discomfort or emotional distress.

The specific term ‘spiritual’ sets out to describe the divine energy that all healers believe comes from a single, intelligent, invisible source, which is available to all. A spiritual healer generally uses their hands to channel this higher source energy (otherwise known as Prana, Chi or Light) from themselves to clients who are lacking it. It can be used to effectively treat physical and emotional problems, as well as mental conditions such as depression.

Spiritual Healing Modalities

Spiritual healing comes in many shapes and forms. Some of these include:

  • Energetic healing
  • Clairvoyancy
  • Vibrational Healing
  • Polarity Therapy
  • Chakra clearing
  • Reiki
  • Pranic healing

Depending on the type, each spiritual healing session may include:

  • You lying down on a massage table or sitting upright in a chair;
  • The practitioner using their hands and touching you as part of the healing process;
  • The practitioner placing their hands inches away from your body or simply sitting opposite you.

You will not need to remove your clothes in the session, and should you feel uncomfortable with the practitioner touching you at all, let them know directly before the session commences.

If you are depressed and have had little results from other treatments, spiritual healing may be the ideal alternative treatment for you. It is especially suitable for sensitive people who are often prone to developing the condition in the first place.
